Eating Before or After Exercising?

i had always thought that not eating before a morning workout (i work out in the morning) helps burn more fat and helps boots metabolism. Don't remember where I heard that but it makes sense...maybe? I ALWAYS eat after I work out, because I am ravenously hungry

This isn't true. You can't "boost your metabolism", at least not in that sense. If you're hungry before, eat before. It makes no difference as long as you're not adding calories you otherwise wouldn't have eaten. Actually, it makes more sense to me that after a long nights sleep, you might get a better morning workout with some fuel i.e. food in you, since its been so long since your last meal. Either way, working out doesn't really "burn fat", a calorie defecit causes your body to tap into its stored fat energy reserves. Working out can help you create a calorie defecit, and can work your muscles so your body preserves them and doesn't canabolize your muscle as well as fat for energy when you're in a calorie defecit - but it is the calorie defecit itself that causes fat loss, not burning it off while exercising.

This (and the rest if what you said!) is all bang on.

You can't 'boost' your metabolism by eating- you can boost your circulation a little, but its not significant enough to burn enough calories to say "oh I'll just eat all day long"

But it can help with blood sugar levels. Eating can give your body some instant energy to utilise, this can help with speed and stamina as energy is required in the blood to do this. Its whatever works for you, everyone has their own unique body and what they are used to or expect from it.
