Sport Eating before bedtime is bad ...any facts or figures?

Sport Fitness
Hi there,

I have been trying to research the theory that if you eat close to your bed time, the body won't be able to digest the food properly and a percentage of it (more than during the day) is converted to fat instead of other things.

Is this actually true or is it fiction?

Many people write as though they know what they are talking about, but I want to find some cold, hard evidence to back up or disprove this theory.

Does anybody know of any medical research studies or journals that cover this topic which can help me find an answer?

Many thanks in advance to anybody who can shed some light onto this.

Ali

Hey Ali,

Well I don't have any scientific facts to back it up, I can say that my golden rule of thumb is don't eat within 2.5 hours of going to bed.

Honestly, calories are calories, so when you take them in really doesn't matter, your BMR is based on 24 hours.

The body won't immediately convert them to fat, but it will convert them to waste, and that waste will sit in your body for roughly 8 hours if you do not wake up in the middle of the night to go.

So while I strongly doubt that it is immediately converted into fat, I do believe that anybody who doesn't wake up to use the restroom in the middle of the night is poisoning their own body with waste, due to the fact they aren't getting rid of it before bed.

hi guys,,,
For being healthy eating the right food at the right time matters a lot.A person needs to stop eating two or three hours before going to bed. You should not feel starving before bed but you should feel slightly hungry.
