Hello :)
Recently i've been feeling quite peckish before bed,
therefore I eat a piece of toast before I snooze at around 1:30am.
When I wake up, I'd have one less piece of toast the next day for breakfast.

:pIn short, if I had a 50cal snack before bed, i'd eat 50cal less for brekkie when I wake up. Now i'm technically not taking in any addition calories.

Could this plan prevent weight gain in the long run?

I appreciate all the help so so much! :D

If you must snack before bed then a protein snack would be much better than a piece of toast, even better would be to be to ensure your eating adequate nutrition during your final meal of the day.

There's a common belief that eating before bed causes weight gain because, when you sleep, your metabolism slows down, thus resulting in food being stored as fat.
"However, your night time basal metabolic rate averages the same as during the day, which means your body still requires energy while you sleep,"

I have a need to eat at night, I think it is just boredom. If I do break down and have a snack, I try to be sure it is "real" food. I don't keep chips in the pantry, else I'm doomed.

I would put peanut butter on that toast. It is more calories, but also protein, which is filling!
