eating after a work out

is it really that important to eat right after a workout? this guy at the gym told me it was extremely important, but I don’t think so. . I usually work out at around six anyway so I pretty much eat 20-30 minutes after I get home. If this has been posted about a lot before, sorry i am new here.
 
It is extremely imortant. You just got done creating micro tears in the muscle fiber. It's prime time to feed them.
 
It is important, have protein and carbohydrates. The carbs will replenish your glycogen stores, and the protein will help heal your starving muscles.
 
The 30 minutes post exercise are crucial. At this point your body is ready and able to store carbs better than any other time of the day. Restocking of carbohydrate stores in this 30 minutes is 2-3 times more rapid as it is even a couple hours later. repair of muscle fibers is more effective if protein is consumed immediately after a work out.

There are 5 goals of the post workout meal.

1 Replace expended carbohydrate stores
2 Rehydrate
3 Provide amino acids for resynthesis of protein that may have been damaged or consumed during exercise
4 Replenish electrolytes
5 Reduce the acidity of body fluids

So don't delay your post workout nutrition.
