Here's the article from said blog;
It is a provocative title, but it is also true: I am going to share a simple method with you, which guarantees weight loss. It is not only the easiest method I have found so far (and I’ve tried dozens of methods, believe me) but it is also the healthiest way possible to lose as much as you would like to.
Here it is:
1. Improve your diet
Do not drink anything but water
Eliminate all junk food and candy from your diet
Drastically reduce the amount of grains you eat
Start eating as many vegetables as you can
Don’t forget about protein. Eat about 1.5 gram of protein for every kg you weigh
Reduce your calories to about 500 kcal below your basal metabolism
2. Move more
Go for a 1-hour-walk every day. No strolling – you should cover 5 km every time
Don’t increase your calories due to the walking
3. Start working out
Pick a weight lifting plan and follow it. Free weights are way superior to machines, but body-weight training is good as well
I recommend Stronglifts 5×5 since it helps you build muscle and strength. Any other plan is alright too, as long as you stick to it.
The plan should have integrated Squats and Deadlifts in any form. Those are the two most powerful exercises you can perform
Don’t increase your calories due to the weight lifting either
You can build muscle despite the calorie deficit, as long as you think of your protein
What results can you expect?
Do not think in terms of weeks, this would be nothing but disappointing. This is not a “6 week program”. This is a program you want to implement for life!
Think in terms of years: If you look back one year, how much has happened? Not too much I suppose. One year is really not that long of an interval. Just imagine you would have started this one year ago.
If you follow this advise strictly, you will lose at least 30 kg per year.
All this while getting fitter and stronger.
As soon you have have achieved your target weight, increase your calorie intake. Maintain the quality of your food, but simply increase the quantity. Don’t eat like a pig – eat like a horse.
Here's the thing; there are not one single approach that is better or healthier for everybody. Different folks need different things. Some of that may be because of health conditions, but it can also be for preferences and / or habits of different people. Some people can work well with certain approaches while others can fail miserably doing the same.
Do not drink anything but water

When someone says something like this, it creates an all-or-nothing mindset. If folks take this to heart, they eventually end up developing a bad relationship with food. They moment they break one of these rules, they feel demotivated, drop of the program, go on crazy binges, etc.
None of that is necessary to lose fat. If you are somebody that want and can do all of that, that's great, more power to you, but for the rest of the people, it's not a good way to go about losing weight.
If you aren't comfortable with that, you are better suited looking for a plan that you are comfortable following. If folks are really motivated they can do something whether they like it or not, but if they weren't happy with it in the first place, that motivation is gonna fade away eventually. And that is the moment when folks completely blow their diets, etc.
You can't expect folks to keep doing something they dislike 24/7 for 365 days or more (In this case, this s supposed to be a lifestyle). Eventually they will stop doing it because they are relying on willpower alone.
How many people do you know or have seen that lose insane amounts of weight, just to gain it back eventually? THIS is what happens when they try to go on such 'programs' or have a bad mindset.
Saying 'This is a lifestyle' just doesn't cut it. Virtually EVERYONE who puts a diet online says it is a lifestyle. Atkins was supposed to be a lifestyle. Low carb was supposed to be a lifestyle. Paleo was supposed to be a lifestyle. Honestly, almost all the diets I've seen online were promoted as a
'lifestyle'. Saying that is completely meaningless. If anything it hurts even more to the folks who already have an all-or-nothing mindset.
I can't quite remember the numbers, but the percentage of people who have lost weight and kept it off for over 5 years is extremely low. Most gain back some, if not all (or even more) weight.
That's why whatever you decide to do needs to be something that adjust to your situation and you as a person. Otherwise it's not going to work.
Can you go on a specific diet or plan to lose some weight quickly? Absolutely. But in the end is YOU who will have to design a plan that fits YOUR needs if you want to keep that weight off.
There is not 'better' approach, because if it doesn't fit the specific person, it is meaningless. Adherence in the long term is going to be the most important factor. Keep that in mind.
I hope that answers your question. There are a lot of ways you can make a weight loss program work, you just have to be a bit creative. You can absolutely use that plan to drop some weight, but
don't think of it as a lifestyle. In the end, you should design your own plan that allows you to maintain your weight.
Good luck.
