Dumbbells vs Machines

I heard machines don't give as good a workout so I avoid them - unless it's a situation where the dumbbell exercises are too weird. Well, anyway, in more detail. machines don't use your natural body weight so don't push you enough - and also they don't fit everybody type. I mean, I think that could lead to weird situations where the body is too stretched or pushed in - I think. That might not be good for you.

Any decent machine is adjustable to your height/girth etc so you should be able to use it no matter what.

This being said I don’t use machines or dumbbells; just resistance bands

The primary problem with machines is they do not activate the muscle used to maintain stability. While this is ok for general fitness it is not ideal. The other issue is as mentioned the machines not fitting the person. While many machines have reasonable adjustment they do not fit everybody. I am a prime example of having machines not fit making the machines actually dangerous to use.
