Dumbbell exercises worth it?

I can't afford a gym membership right now. So I've been reading up on how building muscle helps keep metabolism up because it has to repair muscle tissue or something to that effect.

Would it be worth it to buy a set of dumbbells to do some exercises at home. I found on google with good animation on exercises, most I can do without a bench.

oh definately.... there are so many different exercises and different body parts you can work with dumbbells. I believe that dumbbells are the most neglected part of the gym. I use them all the time and they are great. I would suggest buying a set and using them if your moneys tight

I don't have a gym membership either and I totally rely on my weights for my strength training. Out of habit I normally use Self's site to get my excercises for the weights.

Super things!

Morning,

Dumbbells are super for strength training at home!! You can often get decent dumbbells from your local or local places like Kmart, Target, etc.

Before I went for my femur surgery, I treated myself to a pair of 35 pound jobbers which are quite useful for static curls. Dynamic workouts, however....I end up going lighter and lighter until, say, the 10 pound dumbbells fry my shoulders. Quite an excellent burn, that.

Data points,

Barbara
