Hello, I have been lurking the forums for awhile now and I have seen that many of you started one of these things and get motivation out of it as well as lot of guidance and help. I think this is great and would like to try my hand at it.
Let me start by telling you a little about where I started and why I have started my journey to become fit and slim. I am a 31 year old male, about 5'10, now when I was 21 I weighted about 165. since then I just don't know. I knew I was getting fat, I knew I was getting out of shape. I guess at that time I didn't care or didn't realize. I knew one time I weighted myself I was at 238, I was disgusted but i didn't do anything about it. I ate whatever I wanted I was a heavy drinker of a 6 pack or more everyday. Then one day not too long ago I had to go to the doctors on something unrelated to eight at all but while i was there the weighted me, and took my blood pressure. I weighted 269, and my blood pressure was though the ROOF! I was flabbergasted I knew I was bad but I didn't realize I was THAT BAD!. I had to do something.
This was around the middle of december since then I have been watching things, I have cut out drinking to a saturday night thing, six pack (or so..), I have been watching what I eat and have cut fast food out and if i do eat it i only do it on a saturday and try to keep it to something a bit more healthy. I have deemed saturday my cheat day, since I am usually out and about with friends and makes it somewhat more difficult. till this week my usual diet was consistent of a yogurt in the morning for breakfast, some carrots to snack on thought the morning till i got to lunch for lunch I would eat a lean cuisine, healthy choice, etc etc.. whatever I could get that was a reasonably good price. (those diet entrees all seem to be the same), maybe a serving of pretzels or crackers for another snack and then another meal like lunch for dinner.
I am down to 241.
I have been there for about 2 weeks
now till this week I have done this without any sort of exercise, but I am at a wall and it's frustrating. so this week I have started riding the stationary bike, it's my 3rd day and I have been going at it for 30 minutes a day after work, I am very out of shape so this is where i have started I have every intention to increasing the length as my endurance hopefully increases.
The other issue I have been worried about is that I have not been getting enough calories. before I did counts some days I wasn't even getting myself 1000, I now see, thats not good. so i have added a couple more things here and there. this was my diary for the day.
Breakfast
2 eggo strawberry waffles. (170)
1 Bryer yogurt 100 calorie pack with the granola. (100)
snack
6oz of carrots (70)
lunch
some tortellini frozen meal (300)
snack
serving of triscuit's. (110)
dinner
1 package steamer shrimp fetachini alfredo - (360)
2 cups frozen veggies (70)
1/4 cub shreaded cheese (110)
snack
serving of triscuit's. (110)
But this still only totals 1400, I know I read I should be eating more then that but to be honest I really am not hungry in between any of this. but could this be why I hit a wall?
if so what are better foods to eat, or add to the diet? also you may notice none of the meals have any sort of condiments, I don't eat ketchup, mustard, mayo, etc etc.. yuck.. not even syrup for waffles.. and as far as liquids I only drink water and green tea with splenda. (that's what i like honestly)
So Today I will start my ticker, I am going to start it at 241, because thats where I am today and want to work from TODAY.
any wisdom you can give me or any tips where i can improve would be so helpful, and nice meeting you all
