? Drinking with your meal

I was browsing some diet info on the internet the other day and read some info that stated it was bad to drink much liquid when you eat, as it somehow helped your body absorb that food more or something like that. I keep thinking about this odd thing that I have never heard of before and am wondering if anyone knows if there is any truth to this.

I have always been someone that just cannot stand to drink or sip something frequently between bites of food. To me the food frequently makes me feel like just choking if I can't at least sip a drink with it. Now I'm worried about that!

Any input anyone?

I always drink a bunch of water with food... mainly cos I get in quite a bit of fibre, and I like to think the water mixes with it all and expands it and then I REALLY feel full :)

I try and drink with my meal either water or pure fruit juice. If anything I would of thought more liquid would help digest better. Although it's good to drink water don't go silly like 5ltrs a day.

Someone may know more but that doesn't really go along with what I know about the human digestive system.

Sounds like another "fad" diet -- try this it works tip.. when in reality -not so much..

calories in - calories out...

I find that drinking water whilst eating slows down my eating -which in turn helps my brain register that it's had enough food and therefore I eat less - thereby - calories in - decreasing... :)

I've heard that it's better for your digestion if you dirnk either before or after your meal or something. But regardless of whether it's true, I don't care. I will continue to drink with all of my meals until I get these apparent digestion problems. Not because of my weight loss, just because I have always done that, and always enjoyed it.

Life is, and always has been, water soluble. But, then again, chemical evolution doesn't really make any sense. So...yeah.

Anyway, drink when you're thirsty, and even when you're not, and you'll be aight.

I mean, it's really good to ask questions, and I am not trying to rip the OP here at all...

But doesn't this just sound like it doesn't make sense?! Like I read about COLD WATER while eating fatty foods is more likely to cause a heart attack, maybe, just maybe, FATTY foods are more likely to cause a heart attack. It's just stupid stuff out there sometimes.

The best one I've ever read is this... classic stuff people.

Oh no, dihydrogen monoxide!

I heard that having a glass of wine before a meal can actively lower the GI of the food you consume. To that I say, nom nom nom, wine.

I don't know about the absorbtion thing, however, when I drink too much while eating, I get gas. So I try to not drink and eat at the same time.
