Drinking water and looking thinner but weighing more?

And no it's not muscle weight.

I have taken the step to drink a lot more water. I now drink possibly over a gallon a day. And I'm looking and feeling thinner! Even my boyfriend notices when my pants start sliding down my butt when i walk which they havent done in about a year.

But the scale says I weigh more. My father calulated that our scale adds roughly five pounds. That made me 151 on the scale and about 146 in truth. this was about two weeks ago that I started my water drinking and i had been 146 for quite a few months. Well I get on the scale recently and it said 159! Making me 154! So i waited a couple days and checked again and it said the same thing.

I weigh myself right when i wake up (after a quick tinkle) when I am in my undies. So i'm in about the same state every time.

Anyways is it normal to weigh more but look better while drinking more water?

i don't think i am qualified to respond ... but i can tell you that when i got off of soda's and sweet tea .. and went to just straight water .. after a few days people started telling me my face looked thinner and my neck was more noticable .. but i hadn't lost any weight (according to scale) ...

A number of factors change the weight on the scale (sodium level, water weight, etc..). As long as you see yourself looking thinner, feeling better and healthier, who cares what the scale says. Remember don't weigh yourself every day, it isn't good if your really working hard to get weight down. As long as you feel better and know that your eating healthier the number means nothing.

The Scale Mentality

It's so true - we are doing this to look great in the mirror naked, not balance our success on an arbitrary number on a round scale.

As long as you feel good, and as long as you are getting the body you want, who cares about the number on the scale? It reflects nothing about your body.

Its not something thats bothering me. Its just something that made me curious. And i do not weigh myself everyday. Its more like once a week or once every two weeks. I was just observing the gain while drinking more water.

I will admit to weighing more that once in a week when i had that sudden 8 pound gain.

I really dont care how much i weigh. I know that i have gotten taller in the past year and fuller in the chest area so there is some gain from growth.

Hmm...I had a problem pretty simmilar, but I was just bloated from all the shock of drinking so much water. After about a week the scale was normal again, tho...hrm maybe talk to a dietitian?

This happened to me as well! It was fabulous.
It could be water weight. I'm not positive to how that works, but when I first made the transition from soda and all that stuff to just water and maybe an occasional bit of juice, I gained quite a few pounds but I was definitely thinning out.[People were telling my my face looked really thin]
