My gastroenterologist told me that I need to lose 50 pounds so I can have surgery done on a hiatal hernia. I was losing weight till the holidays and have gained it back due to the little goodies. I go back on the 16th and expect a lecture :( It is not that I am not trying but I do have a lot working against me. I am anemic due to esophageal ulcers that won't quit bleeding and this makes me quite tired. My insurance refuses to pay for the only type of iron I can tolerate. So I spend much of the day sleeping because I am so tired...I am supposed to be getting 4 30 minute workouts a week but how when I don't even have the energy to get going? I figured I would try some sites to get going.

Howdy, Welcome and goodluck to ya.Start out taking
small steps example the first few days go for a 15 min walk
the add 5 minutes every 3 days or a week whenever you feel
your ready. If you have a sweet tooth find a healthier sweet to
sub the old 1 for example I have fell in love with slim fast peanutbutter
crunch bar taste like a butterfinger! Next switch pop for diet pop and
just start knmocking out each of these 1 by 1 not all at once if it's
to hard.Well I wish ya all the luck you can do it,goodluck with the surgery
when it comes around,Tammy:)

If you do cardio stuff, stuff that makes you sweat and breath and your heart rate go, you will feel more energetic after doing so. So do it in the morning before you make up excuses to NOT do it, and that way its over and done with.
I know its hard some days though, but stick with it!

Hi Linda,
Welcome to the WLF!

First, there's no question, you CAN lose 50 pounds :) It might sound like a lot, it might feel overwhelming, but really, all pounds come off exactly the same way - one at a time!

Wishes is right, working out will give you more energy - so try not to skip that. The holidays are over, so you can get back to eating well - do you get many dark green leafys in your diet?

Also, consider checking out or they are both good resources for tracking calories, nutrition and fitness.

Just know that you CAN do this - just take it one step at a time.
