Does your body really adjust?

It's probably in the stickies somewhere, feel free to find me the link, paragraph and post number.

Does your body really adjust to eating less?? Not calorie wise, but hunger wise, do you eventually just start to feel satisfied with the amount of food your eating if you continue to eat less despite feeling hungry?

That's been my experience

When it comes to weight loss, so much of what you do has to do with habits. When you get out of the habit of eating and doing something else, you will feel less of a need to snack / eat. Also, when you start to lose weight, you're body simply needs less calories, which can be a factor.

I was hoping for a more personal experience, actually.

Personal experiences will vary...

That being said, I have found for me, smaller portions have become the norm. At first, it was irritating to weigh things out and to find that it was sometimes less than half what I used to eat. But I think my stomach has personally gotten use to smaller meals and appreciates when it doesn't have to stretch as far to accomodate what I used to eat. There is a place my wife and I eat in Philly (so does the rest of Philly, it's just awesome ;)) called Chickie and Pete's. Let me tell you what I used to eat there.

--About six-seven slices of pizza (mind you, it's thin crust, like VERY thin, and barely any cheese on it, more like a tomato pie, I'd say each slice is about 200 calories in all).
--Magooby Sandwich - shrimp, cheese, onions, pickles and fries on a six inch or so italian roll.
--My own basket of fries with cheese (these are crab fries, and I'd say a basket is probably the size of a SUPER SIZE at McDonalds, maybe 1.2 times bigger?)

Now, if I tried to do that... forget it, I'd be throwing up. I can't hack it anymore.

Now, when I go with my wife, I eat four slices of pizza, half a roast beef and cheese sandwich (same size as the magooby) and split a basket of fries with my wife. Almost half of what I used to eat, granted, it's still around 1500 calories, but its a great cheat meal.

I'd hate to tell you what I used to eat at WaWa for lunch on a daily basis. Now, it's probably 30% of what I used to eat, at least calorically it is about 25% of the original.

i've had a similar experience. mine changed out of no where too without even thinking about it. where as i used to be able to eat countless pieces of pizza and still hungry after a combo at mc donalds. one day after eating my cheese burger and fries there was an extra small fry. and out of my natural resonce to left over food ( i dont like to waste) i decided i would eat it i got half way through that small fry and almost threw up... i was VERY suprised given how i used to eat. then there was the time i made burritos for dinner where i used to eat 4 or more if i could after 2 i figured i would eat one more since thats what usually did, once again a few bites into it i had that sick feeling. you would think because now i'm expending more energy i would be more hungry but thats just not the case. It's true everyone is different and maybe it won't be the same for you. I would think if your eating way too little you still wouldnt be able to get used to it but if your eating a good amount of food just low in calories it shouldnt be too hard. at least it wasn't for me.

Though I can eat bit more now, when I first got into dieting heavy, if I tried to eat even half of what I used to be able to take down I'd feel sick to my stomach. Your body adjusts.

I stopped getting the hunger and cravings after about 2 days. Wether or not that will happen for anyone else though, I can't say.
