Does The Fat Suit Really Fit Anyone In Hollywood?

I don`t know if that belongs here, but I found this interesting article and thought about sharing it.

Have you seen that movie called "What`s Eating Gilbert Grape"? It`s a really great movie and.. the actress who played the mother was huge, she was real, because she was... really that fat!
Can you name any other movie with a fat person in it?

not off the top of my head. i think they are men who dress up as women?

I saw Big Momma's House 2 earlier today and there is a part where "she" is in a bathing suit running on the beach. It's supposed to be a funny scene because "she's" overweight. It disgusted me though.

Ever see Tyra Banks these days.. apparently she's strutting around in a fat suit too just for kicks.

How about Hairspray before Ricki lake got thinner............other than that......I'm stumped too......not to many chunky monkeys on the red carpet eh???

Well, there were fat actor-
John Candy, John Belushi, Jackie Gleason, Shirley Maclaine.
Still are lots of fat comedians. I guess we still consider fat people funny.

John Candy, John Goodman, Kathy Bates, Queen Latifah, Roseanne Barr, Rosie O'Donnell, hm, there are more than a few bigger people out there in Hollywood. It is a rarity of course (no surprise that Hollywood is sizest). And they usually have to push through a lot of obstacles more so than the thin celebrities.

And of course the few curvy women (not fat by any means, but more average build and hips) in Hollywood end up losing a ton of weight (ie: Toni Collette, Kate Winslet, Eva Mendes, etc) after being noticed for their acting abilities. It's no secret that men have it easier. When Brad Pitt or George Clooney gain a few pounds it's very unlikely you'll hear about it as fast as you'd hear about an actress looking "frumpy" while caught grocery shopping.

I am sickened by the idea of the fat suit though. I remember the episodes on Friends where Monica would be in the fat suit (for flash backs and "what if" episodes) and the laugh track would come on when she'd walk or dance- basically the funny thing was supposed to be that she was fat. Horrible! I can understand it being used for a character losing or gaining weight in a movie, but most of the time it's used in a comedic way (remember Just Friends and Ryan Reynolds singing in the mirror?)

The sexiest scene in Chicago was when Queen Latifah was singing her "If you're good to Mama, Mama's good to you" song. I love it! She has so much charisma!

Another larger actress is the lady from The Practice, Camryn Manheim. It seems from what I can tell that the New York theatre set is more tolerant of larger actors and actresses.
