Does it really matter if I eat 3 or 5 meals a day

Does it really matter if I only eat 3 meals a day as opposed to six meals a day? Its the same calories either way, and the week I tried six meals, I didn't seem to loose any more than normal.

advice?

Idealy I believe it is best to eat six meals it keeps your metabolism up higher. And dont give up after just 1 week!!!! :) Try six meals a day for a month and see if you notice any changes then

a lot of people on here wont agree with me but i think 3 a day is fine - it's what i do. i personally think as long as you really watch what you eat you can have great success on 3 meals a day. it's a lot easier, too, IMO.

oh and i wanted to add that yeah, a week is not enough to try a different way of eating. think months instead.

5 meals is inherently superior to 3 in every regard except for one: 3 meals is easier (as long as total daily caloric intake is constant).

every time you eat a meal, your body expends energy starting the digetstion process, which also kickstarts other metabolic functions. this is one reason why, often people who skip breakfast gain weight.

also, you are spreading out nutrient intake, which is more efficient.

i take in 4 right now, but things have been crazy and i just havent had time for more than that lately. after things settle down after finals, im hoping to get into the habit of 6 meals a day.

i eat 8 meals a day

the more meals you eat, the faster you burn the fat, and the more efficiently your nutrients are delivered around your body

the less meals you eat, the opposite happens.

it is that simple

now I have the time I really don't eat meals at all, I just eat small portions whenever I'm hungry which is every 1.5 - 2 hours, ... yes I have a lot of free time :p...

It was confirmed by my own doctor that eating 5-6 meals is much better than eating 3. It's much easier on the pancreas as well.
