Does anyone know much about Leptin in terms of weight loss?

"In his book "The Leptin Diet: How Fit is Your Fat," Byron Richards suggests that eating excessive carbohydrates and snacking may be your biggest hurdles to re-establishing leptin sensitivity. High carbohydrate foods that contain simple starches like white flour and potatoes, along with highly processed foods containing sugar and high-fructose corn syrup, all contribute to decreased leptin sensitivity. Eating large meals or eating too frequently can also lead to a decrease in leptin sensitivity."

"According to Byron Richards, having protein for breakfast is one step you can take to begin to restore leptin sensitivity. Richards also recommends fiber-rich foods and leafy greens. World's Healthiest Foods also recommends fish as a food that helps to regulate leptin levels in the body."

"When you feel that your metabolism slows or that you have been in a deficit for too long, you may periodically include a cheat meal, or refeed day. When prepping for a show, bodybuilders periodically will have a refeed day. Usually, a refeed day consists of a day with a 20-50% increase above maintenance calorie level. A good rule of thumb for a refeed day is to increase carbohydrates 100-150% than normal, keep protein at about 1g/lb. of bodyweight, and keep fat intake as low as possible. A refeed, or “cheat” day is a sure way to jumpstart your metabolism and to normalize leptin levels."

"The longer your body is in a calorie deficit, then the lower your leptin levels and metabolic rate become. What this means is your metabolism slows, and it will be extremely hard to lose that last bit of fat."

I didn't know about this leptin hormone. Why is it bad if there is too much leptin? It sounds like a good hormone for weight loss & higher metabolism.

So, if you have a calorie deficit while having a high level of leptin, you lose even more weight? Should I be taking leptin supplements?
