Cohen's Lifestyle Does Anyone Have Cheat Days

Prefix for Cohen's Lifestyle
pwned

Many people would never lose weight if they ate pizza or a similar meal out every week. I for one would never maintain weight if I did that despite walking at least 6.5 miles per day plus doing other forms of exercise.

Maybe you should gain more experience and knowledge about the whole subject before you made too many postings advising people. I think that many people would rather have no advice compared with bad advice.

Whilst some people are in the fortunate postition of being able to allow themselves some flexibility without major punishment at the scales - anyone with hormonal dietary issues can never do that. As a person with a hormonal medical condition I am more aware of this than most people. From what I understand - the Cohens plan is hormonally based.

I wish you had posted this initially... you and Kara have helped me understand the culture of the forum better, and I think I understand how I rubbed you the wrong way. When I tell people what I do, it doesn't mean that I think it's what everyone should do... I'm not overweight, and I'm bodybuilding, which I guess makes me different to a lot of other people in here, thereby making my opinion and routine somewhat irrelevant to anyone else. I considered myself in the same boat as a lot of people here, but I guess I'm not, and it's time I acknowledged that and got over my obsession with a goal weight that doesn't make sense for me.

In the future, I would ask that you treat me with at least a modicum of respect, and rather than singling me out publicly and slandering my efforts and intentions without knowing much about me and my goals, address any issues you have with my posts via private message. I come here because I find the personal journeys of forum members motivational, and the advice helpful. I will take your advice as a veteran weight-loser, and try to relate what I know with the appropriate bibliography and context in future posts.

I think this is very key information. If you're not overweight (and I don't know if you've ever been, but it seems like you haven't from what I've read), you really don't have ANY idea how difficult it is to lose weight and how bad advice (even if it's well intentioned) can really hurt.

When someone is getting frustrated and feels like giving up already, giving them advice that's not appropriate to their situation is only making a bad situation worse.

I don't think you were slandered at all. I think Omega was making a valid point - people need to accept advice with the sources in mind. I VERY rarely come over to the Cohen's boards to offer advice because I don't know anything about the diet other than what I've read here and so my advice and thoughts for most people on this diet would be not just useless ... but kind of insulting. So I keep my mouth shut here.

Same with bodybuilding threads or areas. I'm not interested in bodybuilding or bulking up, so I don't say anything there unless it's to ask a question or comment on something that I know for sure to be correct in relation to the topic.

I think it's common message board etiquette on any board - to make sure that your advice is appropriate to your audience. ;)

alfafemale.. if your bodybuilding then maybe you have so much musle and as muscle weighs more than fat, maybe your goal weight is too low for you and hence why you havent reached it yet.. and as you probably know, muscle spees the metabolism so maybe thats why you can eat more..Unfortunantly most of us on here dont have that muscle mass (but id love to one day) :)
As for the comments that have been posted on here, i agree with Kara, i dont think ppl meant to insult you, but you have to understand that a diet like cohans is about contolling what you eat to balance our hormones in order for us to burn fat.. im sure everyone on here was just trying to guide eachother and support each other as best we can... and i think that if we recieve any advice that seems slightly off track, a good idea is to ask someone who is very successful at this program (like cate).. just to double check .. Hope everyones having a great cohans day :)

Ok. So i dont know if this has been posted before or not. But recently some people who are also on the Cohens say that they have cheat days here and there. Does anyone else? And what do you consider a cheat day?
This was the initial post in this thread. Yukio was curious to know if anyone on Cohen's cheated. Almost without exception she was advised that it is never a good option. She had not been contemplating cheating but was curious as she types in another forum & there had been much debate about it there.

Thanks Kara & Omega for your input. I appreciate your sensitivity & respect.

Cohen's is the program we have chosen to follow to get to our goal weight. This is the Cohen's section of the forum. All are welcome of course. It's not open only to Cohenites. Heaven forbid! This is a weight-loss forum. Most of us have similar goals and have different ways of reaching that goal. By all means read any threads you like & take from them whatever helps you in your journey. Offer support if you feel like it. Please do respect us & what we are trying to achieve as we try to show respect towards others.

Cohen's is not for the faint-hearted. It is very strict & there is no room for deviations. Please appreciate that any comments made, however unintentionally, can seriously play with people's minds when they often have very serious food & health issues. Getting our heads around becoming slim & healthy & staying that way is the biggest battle for most of us & many of us have had counselling to help. Please respect that.

You won't find me over in other sections of the forum giving advice or saying "Do Cohen's" as I don't think that I have that right. I also don't have the immense knowledge of nutrition & exercise that many others do & am aware of that. I also respect other people's rights to believe whatever they believe. Each to his/her own. "Cheating" in your diet is not really cheating. It's including variety. It's something totally different. When we get to maintenance then we can choose what "extras" we wish to add.

I hope you achieve your goals Alphafemale & would really appreciate it if this thread would be allowed to die a natural death(without me having to type in about 30 threads to move it off our front page like I did once before-LOL!). I wish it could be moved elsewhere at least! Good luck on your journey. I wish you nothing but the best.
Cheers all, Cate.
