Do you think this will work?

My friend and I have come up with a plan to try next week... we're not sure how well it will work but this is what it is. We plan to weigh ourselves on Sunday, and start a rather strict diet for the next week or so.

We're going to only eat 3 yoplait yogurts, 3 servings of fruit (any kind) and tons of water every day. Then weigh ourselves on Saturday.

Does this sound like a decent plan.. not a full term plan because I really doubt anyone can just eat yogurt and fruit for more than a week lol.. but what do you guys think? Decent? Think it'll work?

If you read any of the posts scattered around the forum, you would know that this is not a good plan. It's not healthy, and you'll be starving every day.

You can lose weight eating regular food; check out some diaries to see some good menues. (Maleficent, Niapage, M2M, etc) You need ALL the food groups, and a minimum of 1200 calories a day.

Good luck to you. :)

You do understand that a week's worth of starvation will not only have little impact on the scale.... but it will also cause more damage than good in most cases.

I think you'd be better served constructing a long-term plan for success.

Weight isn't the only important issue. Health is too.

This might be a little too philosophical for this thread...but I'll give it a shot anyhow.

Honestly, if you sustain a pattern like that for a prolonged period of time, will you lose weight? Probably. However, the biggest concern that I have is what will you do once you finish losing the weight?

Most people that go on "diets" like that...meaning some obscure food combination that limits calories in order to essentially starve their bodies to an ideal weight...end up rebounding back to where they were originally once they're done. It makes sense why they do, too. The simple fact is that you can't, nor should you, eat a marginally healthy and monotonous food regimen for a prolonged period of time. By definition, that behavior is temporary. It's just a matter of time before you're back to what you were doing before... It's just a matter of time before you're eating the same things that got you to the point you're unhappy with now.

I think it's a much better idea to find foods that you actually *do* like, that will be things you can enjoy eating for the rest of your life, and make those the mainstays of what you eat. Also, incorporate a good amount of cardiovascular exercise into the mix. That's really the way to lose weight, and to keep it off. :)

Oh dear. Don't even try it for one day!

and stick to how many calories it tells you (not maintainence, the fat loss numbers).

Get a lot more exercise in than normal. Don't bother with anything like sit-ups, do all over exercise like running or playing a sport. Be more active, eat well and you'll lose weight.

It will take time (depending on how much you want to lose), but you'll get there in the end. Don't do any of these stupid diets and DON'T make up your own -plans-.
