Do you have to have consistent routine?

My exercise routine is not consistent at all. I do something for 5 days and rest on the weekends.

Some days I work out with a few Fit TV shows. These combine weight and cardio.

Other days I do stretching exercises - not Yoga or pilates, but just long deep stretches.

Then other days I'll use my stretch band - arm curls, etc.

Other days I'll do the HIIT stuff with the jump rope.

And other days I'll walk/jog for about 2 miles.

Does it matter what I do, when I do it?

I've also radically changed my diet. YAY me! :) Lots of veggies, fruits, etc.

But I got to thinking that all I want to accomplish is a leaner, slimmer me. I've never been much for what the scale says - although I'd love to fit back into my clothes...

Anyway, does it matter what I'm doing and/or how I'm doing it - as long as I'm doing it?

TIA!

Depends on what you're trying to do. No matter what, keeping active is really good, no matter how you do it.

If you're trying to target a particular way to improve yourself (lose weight, gain muscle, increase endurance, increase energy) there are particular exercises that will help you reach those goals faster.

Most important thing is to understand, with each exercise, what you're doing to your body, and how the exercises fit in to your overall lifestyle. You might find that you're working one aspect of your body disproportionately to others -- try mixing *that* up a bit so you work the more unworked portions of your body.

Thanks Fil.

The thing is I want to do all those things: lose weight, gain muscle, increase endurance, increase energy, etc.

But I get really, really bored doing the same thing over and over. I do reps when I exercise, but the next day I want to do something different.

Maybe I should sit down and really define what it is I want to accomplish instead of having some vague idea of a leaner, slimmer body? I don't know.... **shrug**

I know my problematic areas and I do tend to focus more on those areas more or less each day.

I guess you're right though... I'll just try make sure I'm not overworking areas that don't need to be overworked.

Thank you!!! :) :) :)
