Do you burn fat when working out?

From Wikipedia,

In humans, sweating is primarily a means of temperature regulation. Evaporation of sweat from the skin surface has a cooling effect due to the latent heat of evaporation of water. Hence, in hot weather, or when the individual's muscles heat up due to exertion, more sweat is produced. Sweating is increased by nervousness and nausea and decreased by cold. Animals with few sweat glands, such as dogs, accomplish similar temperature regulation results by panting, which evaporates water from the moist lining of the oral cavity and pharynx.

sweating has nothing to do with burning fat.

getting your heartrate up...exercising...moving...that helps burn fat.

Sweating's probably the opposite in some cases - when you're really hot, you sweat - when you're really cold, you have to burn more fuel thermogenically to keep yourself warm. If it's just really hot and you're sweating, you're burning less fat than if it's really cold.

You definitely do burn fat (and carbs) when performing weights - your metabolism is increased over your standard BMR for several hours after completing your workout too. Also, I'm not sure about the exact statistic, but every pound of lean muscle burns 60 calories per day in maintenance - thus, cardio is not the only way to lose fat, gaining muscle also helps a lot.
