do i really need to weight train my legs?

i run almost every day for about 30 minutes to an hour and then bike for 30 minutes to an hour. is there any point to doing leg excersises i already have really well defined and toned legs just wondering if it would make my legs burn even more fat my thighes are already like 29 inches around (quick measurement) a little soft ness on them but its mostly soild muscle. i think careing 270lbs around is a tough work out of its own but will lifting with my legs help?

I do absolutely no leg work. My legs have been carrying excess weight all of my life. My legs are strong. Should I do leg work, probably. Would I do leg work if my main goal was body building? You bet I would. Since my main goal is to lose excess fat and I have never used leg work in my exercise regimine (other than just experimenting, I don't like to do it). I have taken weight off without it. I guess the answer is, it depends. If your bodybuilding, Id say definitely. If you have tree trunks for legs already (like me) it may not be as important to you. Its not important to me in my program, My focus is upper body, core muscles, and cardio.

The squat is one of the best all-around exercises in the world of weightraining. The squat not only challenges your entire leg complex, it challenges your core/trunk as well as your balance. Dead lifts are sometimes seen as leg exercises; I typically consider them a Leg/Back exercise. If you're not going to work legs, no problem, but If you want to burn calories, increase size and add muscle you really should add the squat and dead lift to your routine if they're not already there.

*shutter in the memory of doning hundreds of squats in karate*

i think ill do a 100 to 200 squats on non cardio days.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it puts on great lean muscle mass which well greatly allow you to put on muscle everywhere else. squats and deadlifts are your best friend. (provided you use proper form, otherwise, they become unfriendly in a hurry).

i would also like to emphasize, if you are new to it, start easy with squats. they are a great exercise but are dangerous.

i've heard that working out large muscle groups releases certain hormones that help with building muscle. so working out legs can even help to get bigger biceps or chest because the extra hormones are in your body. maybe someone else can tell me if this is true.
