At the end of the day my feet are swollen nearly everynite and my hands get swollen and start itching extremely bad. Is this poor circulation? Any tips on how to make it better? Thanks for any advice!
Gina
I have to admit the last time a doc checked me out at all was when my youngest was 6 weeks old(oct. 2006). Hubby's job doesn't offer any kind of health insurance so we try and avoid the doc if at all possible. I know I should just go but I'm the stubborn type that will only go when I'm on my deathbed lol. I've also wondered if it could be water retention but that shouldn't make my hands swell and itch, they also get splotchy looking. My feet just swell, don't itch or anything, if they swell pretty bad they may hurt but not often. just admit it, I'm a big ole mess!
Now that I've sat and really thought about it yeah it does happen more often when its summertime. I'll agree that it is prolly heat related. Gonna start taking notes and if I ever do get to a doc I'll have that info ready. Thank
hydrocortisone cream is good for the itchies as is Aveeno lotion (they also make an oatmeal bath stuff that's great for chicken pox and/or poison ivy - not to mention rashes...
I love anything to do with a bath seeing as how its the only break i get from kids so I'm gonna try the oatmeal bath. I have the hydro cortisone cream for the mild case of psoriasis I have on my elbows and knees, never thought to try it on my hands. Thanks again Mal, u're the best!
Sounds more like an issue with your lymph circulation rather than blood circulation. Your lymph system is responsible for clearing your tissues of fluids. Mild edema (swelling of the hands and feet usually) can be caused by loads of things - sodium intake, swinging your arms, heat, etc.
Take care of the skin, like mal suggested. As well as elevating the swollen parts and wearing compressive bandages (aka tight socks if it's your feet ).
But it's also worth getting a doc's opinion on this. Mild edema could be heat edema...or it could be the start of a full blown lymphedema.
