Hi
I'm trying to lose weight. I have tried every diet from hf/lc, under 1500 cals, paeleo, low fat . I also go to thyw gym 3 times a week and aikido twice a week and don't seem to be losing a pound if anything I seem to be putting on weight . I am now at my wits end and startingb to think there is something medically wrong. Any body else find this?

If you're doing a fair bit of exercise you might find that you are building muscle which might be cancelling out the loss of fat. Are you noticing any difference in your clothing at all? I think I read that although muscle doesn't weight more than fat it takes up less space so sometimes people find that if they are building muscle they don't notice a huge difference on the scales but they do "shrink".

Clothes seem to be getting tighter and my belly pot seems to be growing as someone said today " You're piling the weight on " . I'm at my wits end.

Mark, Low carb should not also be high fat, just replacing your sugar with fat does not do you any good, dietary fat is not the enemy but eating to much will still see you putting on excess bodyfat. (I maintain a VLC lifestyle)

Yes it is a good idea to get a medical checkup to check for any underlying problems (thyroid etc.). How are you tracking your calories and food ? are you writing down your intake ? are you weighing your food ? it is very easy to under estimate your portion sizes.

What does your gym routine consist of (detail) and how much of your Aikido classes are spent standing to watch demonstrations or low intensity skill sessions when you may not be expending as much energy as a full contact training session ?

What is your height, weight and bodyfat % ?
