Hello all, this is the second time I have to write this thread out. The first time I tried to post it I was logged out and lost all that I wrote ;(.

To start things of I'd like to state my reason for wanting to lose weight. I basically want to become healthier like most of you :waving:, and stay healthy the rest of my life. I came accross this forum and saw a great way to track my progress online so I could share my experience with others.

In early May 2008 I weighed around 210 pounds and wanted to change. Most of my later life I was on the chunkier side and never before did I try to lose weight so the idea was new to me. I started off easy by trying to eat healthier food then what I would normally eat, I never counted calories or did much exercise. I did this up until the beginning of July and I managed to reduce my weight to exactly 199 pounds, I did alright and it was easy for me. Now that I saw some results I decided to take a more organised approach to my weight loss, it was time to eat healthy foods while counting calories. I lowered my daily calorie intake by roughly 800 a day to start and have gradually moved down as my weight goes down. So far it has been relatively easy for me and I've not run into any problems. I haven't gave into temptation once and I've been very strict. I eat lower calorie meals more times a day while drinking tons of water with occasional exercise, but to admit the exercise doesn't happen often :p. I never feel hungry by doing this, which is great!

At this point in time my daily calorie intake is 1200-1300 and I'm now 179 pounds on August 20th 2008. I don't have a specific goal weight in mind but I'm going to aim for 160 lbs maybe less. I will start my diary today. I plan to update my diary as much as possible with how things are progressing. Now it begins! I hope to hear from all of you :).

Statistics as of December 2008:

Age: 19

Sex: Male

Height: 5 ft 11 in

Starting weight: 210 lbs

Current weight: 140 lbs

Starting date: Early May 2008

Current weight lost: 70 lbs

Update:

It turns out I did manage to lose a ton of weight but I also lost subnational muscle mass. My goal has now switched directions. I'm going to try and gain muscle mass so my weight should be taking a step up if everything goes right. This will be achieved through weight lifting regularly and a healthy diet where I'm in a calorie surplus. It may sound odd but I've gotten so use to a low amount of calories that I'm full all day if I eat 1500 calories, anymore calories and it's hard to put down. I'll slowly be building my calorie intake back up to maintenance, see if there are any gains, if not I'll gradually increase the calories until I hit the sweet spot of muscle growth.

Tip of the Day

Hey Poison,

I had the same issue of being logged out if I took too long to write whatever it was that I was writing, the only solution that was suggested to me was that you mark the remember me box when you 1st log on. If you are using a private comp, its great, you never have to log on and you don't lose your writing.

Thanks, seems that was the problem. I usually have it to remember me on forums but I must of forgot to check it off :biggrinjester:.

Well ok time to start of my first entry in my diary. Last night I managed to get 8 hours of sleep so I'm good and rested. I haven't done much this morning as of now but the day is just beginning. I don't think I will log each day with what I eat exactly but the total calories I consume that day instead. When I also decide to exercise :p, I will post my rough workout.

I'll post how the day went once it's time for me to head off to bed.
 
Update for the end of the day. It's almost time for bed once again, and the day went great. In total I consumed around 1200 calories and I'm feeling fantastic! Never got around to exercising today but what a surprise :p. Goodbye until tomorrow.

I slept in a whole bunch this morning hehe, think I managed to get 11 hours of sleep :D. I feel great and I'm ready to start another day! I'd like to give a update on my weight, as of now I weigh 178 lbs. That's 1 more pound lost, and that means 1 less pound I'll have to lose :cheers2:. Today will be kind of a lazy day as I have no work or anything to do, I'll probably get in some light jogging to keep me busy.
 
The day is ending soon so I finished with about 1200 calories consumed. Tomorrow is quite a busy day for me so we'll see if I'll be able to give updates.
 
Didn't have much time to do any updating yesterday but I ate about 1150 calories, and today around 1225. I'm also thinking I might set my goal weight a bit lower then 160, maybe 155-150. I'm not so sure yet, I guess I'll see how I look and feel at 160 first. I did a weigh-in this morning and I'm now officially 177 :hurray:.
 
Ooops forgot to update yesterday, but I consumed about 1250 calories and then 1210 calories today.

Tomorrow is my last day off for the summer. I move on Friday to Edmonton (I live 100 km away in a small town) to go to college, god do I hate moving :p. Then I have to settle in, find a new job, and get ready for classes to start on September 3rd.

I'm really looking forward to this year of studying, I love meeting new people and making new friends. Can't wait for another year full of partying and studying, of course the drinking will be in moderation to fit my diet :).
 
Finished the day with 1290 calories :). Doing some last minute packing right now for the move early tomorrow morning, I'm a bit nervous and excited about it all.
 
Ate 1320 calories yesterday.

So I managed to move into my new place smoothly yesterday. It's a pretty nice place so far, lots of hot chicks :hurray:. I'm still waiting on my roommate to move in , I have no idea who he is or what he will be like...all I know is his first name Michael. I hope to god he isn't some weirdo :p.
 
Been so busy lately so I'm missed a couple days here. Don't remember the exact calories I ate those days but it was still in the 1200 range :). Hopefully soon when things settle down a bit I will have more time for this diary.
 
A little update. I'm currently 158 lbs now and I think I will go to 150 lbs. It seems I'm losing weight at a faster rate then I predicted. I probably need more calories then the calorie calculators tell me.
 
I'm still doing well and going down in pounds constantly but my gym time has been non existent lately so I think it's time to start weight lifting again :coolgleamA:.
 
good luck with starting the lifting again... my exercise has also gone down the drain, so I'll be joining you with getting back on track, yeah!! :seeya:

It's hard to keep focused and get in the gym on a regular basis. We just need to kick ourselves in the butt and do it :D.
