Ok, I guess it's time to start working on all this. I've tried to get started losing weight a few times since we moved, but have been too depressed from the move to really make any progress. Time to change that.
During the move out of state, I gained 20 pounds... I was already up 20, so now I'm WAY up. At 5'2, 40 pounds is a lot of excess tonnage to be hauling around, and my health has been suffering from it. I can feel those TWO BAGS of KITTY LITTER I'm hauling around all the time.
I'd torn a tendon in my leg, and that didn't help anything, and from limping, my other ankle's been having problems. I NEED to get this extra weight off. I think I really need some help and support, too. I don't know anyone in my new town, and am working at home.
Ya, ya, I'm being snivelly, but I'll get over it.
This afternoon I have to find a dance costume that will still fit me for a performance this weekend. It's kinda like shoving a cow into a dancing girl outfit - not what I'd call pretty. I thought about fasting this week to get started, but that's not really happening either. I'm too hungry in the mornings. I only have a small apple and a light yogurt, then salad or protein/veggies the rest of the day, but still my weight's gone up a bit. I'm doig at least 30 minutes on the treadmill daily, more when I can handle it. I've also been doing some upper body resistance work, and working with DVD's when I can - Pilates, yoga, strength training and dance stuff.
I saw an ad here for a weightloss exam. I can't really afford to do something like that ongoing, but maybe I'll call and see what their speil is.
I have to say I'm more than frustrated. When I was a teen I was sick and gained weight when I started getting better, going from 72 pounds to 240 in a matter of a few months. I started dancing, lost 50 the first year, another 50 over the next 5 years. Then about 8 - 9 years ago I was up to 170. I went on the Type II Diabetes Diet and lost 50 pounds in about 6 - 8 weeks. I kept it off until now. But going back on that program hasn't been working, and now I'm feeling....trapped.
I am going to move forward. I don't know how, but I have to do it. I'm only 49, and I'm not READY to stop dancing. I want to teach and perform for a long time yet, and I can't work with all this excess weight on me. I have to find a way. Hormones and food allergies not-withstanding.
So, today is day 1. I have 40 pounds to lose and a dance career to save.
