Diary of a Fat Man - Ben's Diary

Day 1

When I graduated high school I weighed in excess of 300lbs. I could not get up to get the TV remote without breaking a sweat. I was picked on at school and had only a few friends -- mainly ones that I had known my entire life. Things had to change.

I graduated high school and started a new life style. I was able to drop down to 200lbs -- most people thought this was too thin for my frame. I was happy. My self esteem was high and I loved life. I met a great woman and got married. Shortly after, we had our first kid -- this marked the beginning of my weight gain.

Many years went by and I got back up to around 275. This was unacceptable. I have slowly dropped back down to 248, but this too is unacceptable. So, time for a change.

I work out every day splitting my days with cardio and weight lifting. It is not the exercise that is lacking it is my late night food cravings. I eat healthy throughout the day -- protein rich meals with slow burning carbs. However, right before bed I start eating crap. This is my major weakness.

It is time to make a change. I need accountability, which is why I am going to start this diary.

Today I weigh 248lbs at 27% body fat. My goal is to be under 10% body fat and I will attain this.

I will do this for my kids, because for every pound of fat that I have I know that I am taking away from them. I want to be able to play sport with my son -- he is 4 now, and I want to see my daughters wedding -- she is 4 months old.

Day 1 is underway.:hurray:

Day 5

I have been sticking with my plan. I have been eating six times a day (low carbs and high protein -- supplemented with high quality whey protein). From the diet alone I feel much better.

My exercise routine has been consistent. I have alternated between upper and lower body weight lifting routines and cardio. I have focused on intensity and not distance or poundage. My goal is to push my body to the extreme.

I did deviate from my meal plan once, when I went out with some friends. I probably added 600 calories to my daily consumption average. I did this on a high intensity leg day, so I did not feel too bad about it.

My body fat percentage has decreased by a small amount, which is still a bonus.

I feel better physically and mentally. I am pleased with my results thus far.
