Diary of a Fat Bird...

23rd December, 2010: Day One

And so, my diet begins!

I am currently home from University, and surrounded by many, many goodies! However, my poor waistline has already been sabotaged this year by booze, buffets, and bites of bliss from many different tables...therefore now is definitely the time to win back some control over my acutely aggrandized arse and slim down!

I have decided that slicing my calorie intake down to 1200 per day is the best way to kick start my diet before the new year begins, so I intend to allow myself 1500 from the 23rd (today), until the 26th (boxing day). I then intend to allow myself 1200 calories following this period. I am also forsaking alcohol, knowing only too well the damage that it has done my poor, chubby body, until New Years.

So I suppose I'd better publish the results of my food-intake for today:

Total: 1489calories.

Breakfast: 3xKellogs Choco Bites: 297cal
Lunch: 1xVegetarian Casserole + Dumplings meal: 375cal
1xSkinny Cow Mint Choc Chip Ice Cream: 94cal
Snack: 1xChristmas Tree Chocolate: 60cal
Dinner: 1xQuorn Cottage Pie 300g Meal: 209cal
1xSkinny Cow Mint Choc Chip Ice Cream: 94cal
Snack: 4xChristmas Tree Chocolate: 240cal
Snack: 4xSquare Cadburys Milk Chocolate: 120cal

Not too bad, so I'm hoping less chocolate, more healthy food tomorrow...I seem to eat more healthily when I'm at uni! Crazy stuff! Too much temptation at home, methinks!

Have a great evening, everyone!

how can you eat ice cream in this weather?

not bad though! alot healthier than myself !

good luck!

E x

Thanks E!

How can I eat Ice Cream?

One: Less than 100Cals...
Two: Tastes like Bliss on a Stick....

These apply at all times of year :p

Hello :)

Calories look good but yeah alot of chocolate! Probably has to do with the time of year eh?

How much do you currently weigh and what is your goal weight? Do you plan to do exercise as well?

Good luck :D

Hi Mountain,
Welcome :)
Wishing you all the best on the weight loss - I think 1500 then 1200 cals is a great plan.

@ Slickzchik: Definitely to do with the time of year! Gunna try and avoid chocolate all day today...real chocolate that is ;) Hahaa....

I'm currently about a stone and a half overweight....this year has been a bit....of an indulgence! Haha! I love exercise, so definitely...I used to do everything possible, but I've been sooo buzy with essays that I let everything fall by the wayside!

I'll try to stay active this holiday, though I am ill at the moment, and mostly stuck inside! But when I get back I'm going to start going to the gym again, and trampolining. I'll probably do some classes when I get the time, and maybe go back to badminton...then of course....I do believe clubbing burns calories ;) Haha :p

Good luck to you tooo! :D What plan are you following and how do you exercise (if you do?).

@HealthyJess: Thanks! I wish you the best too! :) What's your plan with weight loss? :)

Oh Lordy. Christmas Day!

Best day of the year, but worst for my diet!! Eeek!!! Noooooo....

Well, breakfast was bad enough: 555Cals worth of Mikado...Oops...

My plan for the rest of the day involves lots of Diet Coke, and Orange Squash!

The rest of the plan involves:

Lunch: 1xVeggie Casserole and Dumplings: 375Cal

Dinner: 1xQuorn Cottage Pie (300g): 209Cal

Total: 1139Cal

Leaving....361Cal for any snacks....

HAVE AN AMAZING DAY EVERYONE! :D

Down to 279Cals for snacks now.

Usualy I like to eat very early, so waiting for Christmas dinner, isn't so brilliant for my diet...

I've had a snack of Garlic Bread Pieces....one bag for 82Cals...really good value for Cals, I think!!! However, cannot WAIT for Christmas dinner...

Diet definitely went out of the window today. I am sooo ashamed! :(

Hey MC!! Don't get down on yourself! Everyone is going overboard today... We have to learn how to jump back into the routine after a heavy-eating day, so let this be your chance to prove that you aren't going to let one day ruin your journey! Our dear forum friend ChubbyGirl likes to say that "birthday calories don't count, but tomorrow's do." I say the same applies to Christmas calories! Looking forward to hearing about your progress!

A day can go out the window without the diet going out the window!
Today's been a little wasted for me, as well, but I'm just jumpin' back on track tomorrow morning.
It's the holidays; don't beat yourself up.

Thanks Guys, definitely trying to make a change today!

ChubbyGirl's quote is great, I'll try to remember it! :D

Today so far:

Breakfast: 4xBread+Butter: 500Cal
Snack: 1xGarlic Bites: 82Cal
Lunch: 1xQuorn Cottage Pie (300g): 209Cal

So 791Cals down so far....

Last night I did go for an hour's walk in my new Shape Ups Trainers...which I got as my main Christmas Prezzie :D I was soo happy with them! :D They really feel comfortable! :D And seem to improve posture as they advertise! :D

Very neat! Seen that posted on my first post ever to be made on this site on the photo tracking page so I thought I'd get back to you hear seeing as how we're now both tracking our weight together! It feels good to know I'm not doing it alone, on Weight Watchers I had the same feeling but eh'I can't keep up with the point now a days, or just don't want to find time for the meetings.

Anyways! It's nice to know I'm not the only one who thought through having no more alcohal! It is completley distracting.

Good luck, I can't wait to see progress within the next few weeks, woohoo!

Hey KatiWhi! :)

I know what you mean about the time for weightwatchers meetings! So much more conveniant to be supported online! Though one of my flatmates is also trying to be more healthy, so she is great for inspiration! Though she has not cut down on the drinking -luckily that has been easy so far as not going out...hopefully the next time I drink will be after the 30th, which is my goal! :) At uni I will just have to drink less...because I do enjoy a social drink, so I don't want to keep going cold turkey during the term! Maybe one night of a small drink a week?

I can't wait to see our progress either!!! :D

Today was my last day of 1500Cals, so I definitely made the most of it! Haha :)

My total intake for today was as follows:

Breakfast: 4xBread+Butter: 500Cal
Snack: 1xGarlic Bites: 82Cal
Lunch: 1xQuorn Cottage Pie (300g): 209Cal
Snack: 2xBread+Butter: 250Cal
Dinner: 60g Bowl of Cheerios: 220Cal
Pudding: 2xChoco Swiss Roll 240Cal

Total: 1501Cal....Oops, one over, I suppose I shall live though!

I went for another looong walk in my lovely trainers today too :D Whey! :p <3

Had about 1400Cal today? Lots of walking and shopping though! But couldn't caculate exactly, and just failed a bit...hahaha, busy day with pals...Oops :p

Well done keep up the good work.

Hey,

Good effort so far, especially over the Christmas period! Are you just dieting or are you including regular exercise as well, as the latter can really help to maximise your results. I am a guy who is in a similar position to you, been at uni 4 yrs now and steadily lost all shape and tone and more importantly fitness and health!!! Starting a new exercise regime and reformed eating habits at the moment (or rather started yesterday). I did tonnes of research before this attempt as my two previous attempts I have lost weight then reverted back to old habits and piled it on again. If you have any questions, or want some more detailed info, then I have a tonne of e-books and pdfs that I can send you which are pretty useful.

Im also aiming to lose about 20-22 pounds... if you'd be up for some mutual support that would be great, as I deffo need to be held to account by as many people as possible - sometimes that Saussage Pasty can seem just a little too tempting.

Take it easy and keep up the good work, P

Thanks Guys, definitely trying to make a change today!

Hello!
Good to read about your goals and progress so far...great job!! When you add 4X...does this mean you had that 4 times that day? Or like 4 pieces at breakfast? Keep pushing forward!!:auto:
