Diary of a Chubby Kid - From Burgers to Lettuce

Welcome to my diary... I have read a lot of diaries on here and figured, hey why not start my own!

Introduction - As of this writing I am 244.8 pounds and for you other kids that's 111.3 kilograms. My inspiration is a contest at work titled the "biggest loser" how original i know. In the time of 12 weeks contestants will lose weight however they want to. After twelve weeks the winner will receive the grand prize which is money (I'm hearing a couple thousand dollars). This prize as well as the frustration of not being what I used to look like have put me on this journey. I'm inexperienced and I honestly have no idea what I'm doing, but i will learn as i go. And the one thing i do know is that if i don't put in hard work, i wont get the results I'm looking for.

About me - My name is Steve, I'm a full time student and I also have a full time job. I start nursing school in the spring (hopefully I'll be close to being a stud by then)

Day 1 - Ready Set Go!

So my total calorie intake for the day was only 916... I know i should of had more but most of the day i spent sleeping because i had class and work in the same day.

What did i eat you ask?

6 inch turkey sandwich on wheat from subway
and 2 turkey tom's from Jimmy John's.
5 - 20oz bottles of water.

Conclusion

Overall not a bad day, I really needed to increase my calorie intake but because i was so tired I'll let it slide. No exercise today besides my normal routine of going to school and working.

Day 2 - Hes on the Pill!

So far today as of this writing I'm at 537 calories and will enjoy myself tonight because ill reach right around 1200 by the end of the day. I walked 2.8 miles in the park and also for the FIRST time took my Alli (orilstat) before lunch. No effects from the pill so far, hopefully i dont crap my pants ever :angelsad2:

Diet so far - Pre Dinner

2 Blueberry Waffles – 210
Syrup – 160
Tangelo – 70
Tuna - 97

Calorie Count - 537

Conclusion

So far not a bad day.. i was really feeling it that last lap on the walking thing! I can't believe I let myself get to be like this. The food today was really good i've really been mixing a variety in so i wont get tired of things. I'm really skeptical about Alli, but I'm gonna take it and see what happens. Just as long as i dont have any accidents in my pants me and alli will get along. lol

Hey welcome, great start and good luck with your journey you sure do have that extra edge of motivation! ^^ Sure is hard to beat long standing habits but I am also trying to reverse all the damage I have done to my body with my love of food and the chair. Keep us updated!
 
congratulations for beginning the journey! always keep the goal in mind to stay motivated. don't allow yourself to lose motivation... both in diet and exercise. this is a good thing for you to have started a diary, you'll have to keep people posted on your achievements so DON'T LET US DOWN!

Day 3 - Diets Really Suck

Today I've realized something. Its only day three and i see people eating burgers, pizza's and tacos all around me.. Food i love, and food that i can't have. Lets be honest.... Diets suck. No matter what book you read or magic diet that comes out that allows you to eat chocolate.... lets get real! the more crap you put in your body (which usually taste amazing) the less results you'll see, which in turn the more work you have to put in... or longer period to get the pounds off. I'm staying on course though. No cheating here!

Today's Menu

Day 3
3 Blue Berry Waffles - 315 – Alli Pill
Syrup – 160
Footlong Turkey Sandwich from Subway - 570 –Alli Pill


Total - 1044

Conclusion

I should of incorporated more of a variety, but lets really be honest. I went to school for 4 hours and then went to work for 12. Its a miracle i didn't cave and hit up the cafeteria. That in itself is a victory in my book!

Day 4 - Cheat or Not to Cheat!

The idea or concept of a "cheat day" has really got me thinking. When i first started this diet I really thought it was a waste of time to have a cheat day. But my views have changed slightly. I believe one cheat MEAL a week is fine. But in moderation and not going crazy with it. We have food cravings and ignoring them only makes it worse. I craved Penn Station's Italian sandwich. Normally I'd get a Large sandwich with an order of fries. But on my cheat MEAL I went with a medium sandwich and no fries... Plus i had them put no mayo on it. I fixed my craving, but i was also smart about it taking fatty unnecessary things off. While i can say in this writing it did effect the awesomeness of the sandwich slightly... It was still very VERY tasty... (especially after you have a healthy choice meal that you think could be used as dog food)

conclusion

Another bad day for my choice in food. I need to increase my calorie count but I honestly didn't feel hungry in the evening. I was so tired because i work nights, I got off at 630 in the morning and went on a 3.5 mile walk. The weather was perfect, although it would of been nice if i remembered to charge my ipod. After that i went to Penn Station for my sandwich and followed it up with watching the baseball game. My goal tomorrow is to work out again, maybe walk even longer and also have a better diet setup. Getting Penn Station helped my urge of cheating and wanting to get rid of the diet completely. And for that I will call this day a success!

Day 6 - It Could Be Worse, Right?

Today i lost my calorie count which I'm not happy about. Went over to the families house in the evening and they were making steaks. Which i had one and a roll. This scared me because I still hadn't ate dinner that night. Then I met up with some friends as Red Robin. Another bad idea! I had the blackened chicken sandwich, but of course it had chipotle mayo on it to make it 600 calories plus an order of fries that didn't help either.

I was smart some of the day.. I did take my Alli for both major meals. And I did go for my 3.5 mile walk. So hopefully this was just a minor setback.. I'll be back on course tomorrow!

Conclusion

This is not going to happen again..... and for those of you wondering when I will weigh in. Probably sometime in October! So we have some time, I don't wanna become discouraged or too happy and take this all lightly.

Hey! I'm finding the easiest way to loose weight is by not depriving yourself! You can still have a pizza. Make it yourself! You can add tomato and meats or other topping and just a small ammount of cheese. Try the thin premade pizza bases too, they go crispy so their really nice and healthier that the thick or stuffed crust one. :D
