Diary: My Life Change

I was reading another thread somewhere else in the forum and stumbled across a mention about the diary section. I thought that is such an excellent idea that here I am! :waving:

Who I am...

My name's James, I'm 26 and I currently live in the UK. I work for a web design and marketing consultancy and really happy in that respect. For as long as I remember I've struggled with weight problems.

I've tried many methods of weight loss including slimming clubs, calorie counting and my own diets. Up until this point, nothing has been successful. I'm at the end of my tether and completely fed up.

What I'm doing...

Well, I've just bought a book. I'm not sure whether I'm allowed to mention it on this forum but here goes. It's Paul McKenna - I can make you thin.

It seems to work on 4 simple rules.

  • Eat only when hungry
  • Eat what you want not what you think you should
  • Eat consciously - enjoy your food and eat slowly
  • Stop eating when you're full
It also comes with a 'mind programming' CD which is designed to help you motivate yourself and get into a new way of thinking about food.

All seems to make sense, so what I'd like to do is give a bi-weekly account of what it's like to do this method.

My aims...

I've not weighed myself recently but I'm pretty sure I'm over 26 stone (166kg). I'm 6'4 tall and would love to be about 18 stone. I'm fairly big built so this will be a good weight for me I think.

My aim in contributing to this forum in the form of a diary is to hopefully help motivate myself. I also hope it will help other readers who feel they'd like to do something about the way they feel about themselves.

I don't really want to think of this method in terms of weight loss, however I need some kind of measure to put down on here so I will weight myself once or twice a month.

So...

Well here goes, let's give this a try. Speak to you soon...

It sounds like the book has some great advice!

This is a great place for support, and we look forward to watching you succeed!

:)

Welcome! I've heard of Paul McKenna, I've seen his television specials, or at least segments of them. I hope his program works for you, good luck!

Yeah me too... feeling really positive about it this time. Something different about it, namely the fact that I'm not obssessing about food all the time!

Friday 1st August

So, into my second day. Really early days yet but the signs are good.

I did the CD yesterday. Really weird, it was like being asleep but completely awake. I woke up and felt so positive and ready for it.

A big problem for me has always been eating while at work. Getting the munchies! But yesterday, I made full use of the hunger chart...

  1. Physically faint
  2. Ravenous
  3. Fairly hungry
  4. Slightly hungry
  5. Neutral
  6. Pleasantly satisfird
  7. Full
  8. Stuffed
  9. Bloated
  10. Nauseous
So whenever I think I'm hungry, I sit back and think where I ACTUALLY am on the chart. And I tell you what, it's amazing where you actually are compared to where you think you are!

I found that instead of feeling starving at 11am (or thinking I was), I wasn't having lunch until about 1.30 to 2pm. This meant I wasn't starving by the time I got home.

I'm not going to rabbit on too much as I don't want loads of text to put people off, but I'm hoping to weight this weekend which will effective be my baseline weight.

Speak soon.
