Desperate to lose weight!!! Will try anything!

Hello, i'm new here and was just looking for a forum site where I could rant and get some advice.

Ok so, a bit about myself.
I would love to lose 10 - 15kg.
All my past dieting attempts have failed after one or two days.
I tend to eat when I am bored or upset, or just plain eat too much.I am 170cm/75kg.
I also have Type 1 diabeties and hypothyroidism.
I hate exercise and every diet I have ever tried (and trust me, thats a lot) has only resulted in temporary minimal weight loss.:banghead:
I am sick of doing it the hard way, I hate feeling hungry all the time and I hate only seeing a few pounds drop. I just get depressed and give up.
I want a diet where I can eat normally, not count evey single calorie I consume, not end up feeling like shit because of exercise attempts, and lose weight rapidly.
I'm not too worried about health complications (sounds reckless, but anything is better than being fat)
Any suggestions?
IM DESPERATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So... basically your saying you want to lose weight without having to actually work for it... yeah... i dont think thats going to work... the only way to lose weight and keep weight off is to change your lifestyle. meaning you need proper excersize and nutrition... if you don't want to do that, you don't want it bad enough yet...
there is no magic pill, no magic fruit or diet. If you expecting someone to hand you a different answer, I wouldn't hold your breath.
when you do decide to make the change. before you change your habits. you need to change your frame of mind. weight loss takes a lot of time and a lot of effort. you cant expect to drop it all in a few months, you can't expect it to come easy. you take it one day at a time until it becomes second nature. you have to not be lazy to make it not seem like too much work.
i'm sorry to be so forward but it's important that you know there is no easy way out. and if you really are so desperate your willing to try anything. your going to have to defy everything you just told us about yourself
welcome and good luck

If you aren't willing to take control of your diabetes and your weight, and put in the time necessary to do it, you won't lose weight and keep it off. It just doesn't work that way.

I'm a Type 1 diabetic (technically a Type 1.5) for 26 years now and the first thing I'm going to tell you is before you start exercising, make sure your blood glucose levels are VERY stable.

Please talk to your doctor and nutritionist so they can help you set yourself up to win.

Once you start exercising, you're going to have to monitor your BG levels incessantly to prevent pre-, during and post-workout hypo and/or hyperglycemia. Moreover, when you exercise, your insulin requirements will decrease. That in and of itself is a good thing.

If you have any questions, please ask. I'm certainly not an authority because I have no initials after my name with respect to diet, but I know what has worked for me and my BF (he's also diabetic), and we have not only kept our BG levels stable, but we have been able to keep the fat off. But we also lift weights 3-4 times a week.

I'm assuming you are taking synthroid for your thyroid issue?

Note: I was told by my dietician to NOT go on an anabolic diet, but I successfully modified Lyle McDonald's anabolic diet and it has worked out very well for me. I have also successfully tweaked carb cycling to lose fat. I've been eating like this for about 7 years now and so has my BF.

There are actually a few weight loss options for you, although you will (of course) have to account for your diabetes yourself. 3 in particular worth mentioning, I'll start with the most obvious:

1) Surgery - Weight loss surgery is very expensive and very dangerous and most people wouldn't recommend it. On the other hand, my uncle wouldn't be alive today without it. He was at 415 lbs and with the help from the surgery he is now at 185 and he has kept the weight off for seven years now. It took something huge to get him motivated. Still, it's best to avoid if possible.

2) Any of those diets where you order your food (such as Nutrisystem) - Again, expensive. But with these diets your food is supplied for you so there's no thought in it. You eat everything that your given and nothing else. It takes the thought out of it all together, making it easy to stick to after only about 3 weeks of doing it.

3) Weight Watchers - I know, I know. You don't like counting calories. So here's what you do: look up the values of a LOT of foods you might eat ahead of time and print them out so you have a quick reference guide. After about two weeks, there's no thought with anything you eat regularly. You come to know whether something's high in points or low in points. Also you can eat ANYTHING you want, you just have to plan accordingly.

If you really, really are so horrible about diets that you can't look up your WW Points, then do this:

WW Takes more into consideration than just Calories. It gives you a fairly good overall rating of the healthiness of a given food. So look up a lot of stuff you might eat and - if you're NOT going to stick to WW - give it a raiting of 1-5 or "Great, Good, Eh, Poor, and Oh Crap" So you at least have a general idea of how some foods balance out.

If you want to lose and keep it off, here are somethings you will need to understand.

1. It won't happen over night. Look at it like this, if you lose one pound a week you are doing a good job. That might seem slow, but after a year you lose fifty pounds. You have to learn to be patient.

2. You need to control your calorie in take. While that may not necessarily mean counting every last calorie, you need to make sure you are in a deficit (and not too low.) If counting every last calorie doesn't work, then I really recommend what the above poster suggested and try one of the food plans. It comes out to be somewhere between $200-$400 a month depending on where you get it from.

3. If there was a way to lose weight and keep it off that was easy and quick EVERYONE would be doing it. The quick and easy ways don't work long term.

You need to look at it like this. would your rather be fat or would you rather take the time to do what it takes to not be? It really comes down to that.

You can do it if you just give yourself a chance.

Somehow I don't think the OP will be coming back....she/he just wanted to rant. But...I thought I would share what I heard on the Early show this morning.

This guy put two people on fast food diets for one month. They actually lost weight. The secret to their success was.......*drumroll please*

Portion Control!!

We all eat too big of portions. Order kid size meals instead of adult meals or share a burger with a friend. Use smaller plates, bowls and utensils when eating at home. The smaller plates make you satisfied with smaller portions and the smaller utenstils make it take longer to consume your food.

I agree i don't think theyre comming back...

And it's true you can lose weight and still eat anything as long as you stay within your caloric deficit... I could have mcdonalds for dinner every night and still be still be under 2000 and around 1500 calories for the day and technically still lose weight. That not to say I should though.

Fast food tends to contain a lot of stuff we really shouldnt be putting into our bodies. have you ever looked at some of the ingredients? I didnt know you could put that much crap in something as simple as a hamburger bun... if nothing else the stuff is loaded with salt which is just bad for so many reasons. The average american tends to consume about 7 times the amount of salt they should be in a day. For instance, a single McDonald's Quarter Pounder with Cheese usually contains about half a teaspoon of salt (double than the daily recommended amount of salt), two slices of Pizza Hut Meat Lover's Stuffed Crust pizza contain more than a teaspoon of salt.

I'm not saying your suggesting a fast food diet. I just dont want anyone to get the idea that it would be a good idea or that they can be care free with take out food as long as they dont eat too much. :)

Sounds like you are making this expectionally tough for yourself. As everyone else has been saying, there is no magic pill to this. There are three key areas that need to be addressed here: 1) Emotions - what else is going on in your life that may be affecting your ability to lose weight & I'm not just talking diabetes.

2) Exercise - what have you tried? What about finding something you do like so you can stick with it? Exercise doesn't mean you must join a gym. I hate gym work so I opt for classes instead. What about yoga, pilates, dancing, swimming/ aqua areobics? There are so many things you can do to get active - just find what you like.

3) What are your currrent eaten patterns? We rarely eat when we are hungry, so when you are upset ask yourself, what's going on within me that I'm trying to resolve with food? The answer may not come straight away but it's there inside you just waiting for the right time to reveal itself.

I can almost feel your fustration but it needn't be hard work. There is a way but you just need to sort out your mindset. What about focussing on improving your health and balancing your blood sugar instead. As a result you may find that the weight naturally drops off.

Diets mess up your metabolism so your better off making one simple change at a time and build from there. Write out what your goals are and whilst you are at it also think about your payoffs for holding on to the weight. Believe me, you might surprise yourself with the answers you come up with on this one.

Good luck.

Honestly, you all are right on target.
Time, effort, and conscious thought into everything is a habit that must be learned till it comes naturally. For me, anyway.
As for the emotion part-you are talking to the emotion queen.
I actually found myself with a hershey kiss in my mouth right in the middle of a tiff with my significant other-how had I unwrapped it and popped it in there? No memory of it, it was just there, melting in my mouth and putting the fat right on.
I hope this person eventually reads these posts and thinks twice. But the frustration is so relatable.

Thanks!

Thanks everyone for your posts!
They have helped to movitave me a little!
I am going to join weight watchers and see how it goes!
I have also been exercising for 1hr a day, and finding it not as painful as I originally thought!
So yes, thanks everyone for taking the time to reply to my post!

Are you serious?
You will NOT lose weight UNLESS you are willing to make some serious changes in your life, and those changes may prove very difficult- but well worth it in the long run. There is no quick fix to losing weight.

AI have been there! I looked FOREVER for something to make me lose weight with out even having to work out. It took YEARS but I finally found a weightloss challenge and it has changed my life. I am 120 pounds. I can't freaking believe it. The weightloss challenge that I am still on to this day is call Visalus. Its absolutely amazing. You drink 2 shakes a day (replacing a meal or snack) for 3 months. I lost 98 pounds. The shakes honestly taste amazing and they work. This is the website I get mine from. Allysonferrell.bodybyvi.com the kits start at $45 and go to $200. I did the Transformation kit which is $200 but I've hear Amazon thinks about the $99 shape kit too! All of my over weight friends and family do it! Good luck!
