Dear Diary, Sincerely Me.

Okay. I'm new! I thought I would start off with a motivational diary to keep myself on track. I want to get serious now with my weight loss, as I gained a few kilos recently.

-I'm 15 years old
-166 centimetres
-73 kilos

So, BMI says I'm JUST over weight at 26.5. I want to just remain healthy, and get my health up again.

I'm hoping to lose 6 kilos to start off with. Yes, it's a large amount.. I'm going to also give myself 8 weeks. I want a challenge, but I want to look thinner by my third term of school so I can look my best for graduation.

I started the healthy eating/exercise about 10 weeks ago, and I lost 6 kilos within that time (from 77 kilos to 71 kilos). But as Easter came about 4/5 weeks ago, I put it on and also ending up lazy in the school holidays (Which I'm disappointed in myself for) So I'm back to 73.

Everynight after school, I put on a good 3 minute song and aim to do sit-ups during the song, and then chose another song and continue with sit ups. (so 200, during both songs at least)
I'm drinking water again, during the holidays it was all Coke zero and rubbish. Haha.

I'll start taking my walks again, they go for about half an hour. I'm also quite busy, so I try to aim for once every 2 or 3 nights a week.
I also do alot of walking around the shops. Mum is always grocery shopping, most nights of the week and I tag along with her. And dad recently borrowed an excercise bike, I did 30 kilometres on it the other weekend.

So.. I really want to lose this weight, all your support is welcome, and needed :p I'll try keep up with this once every few days, and just jot down my records.
If you have any tips, don't be afraid to give them to me! Thank you!

you are in the right section :) welcome tot he site and your diary - glad to have you here...

time for my forum mother speech :) given your age, please make sure that your parents or guardians are aware of your health and fitness goals - at your age your body is still growing and changing and while it's a great age to become aware of what's healthy you do want to make sure you're going about your goals in a sensible manner.

Now enjoy your stay and have fun while you're here

Hey! And thanks!

My mum and dad support it.
And supported me when I lost my 6 kilos before.

So, they're all good with it.

And I have been told by many people that I am still developing, and I am a growing girl. But I want to get my BMI down to a healthy range.. And just maintain a healthy weight. And if my mum is alright with that, then I'll do it.

She reached her 30 kilo weight loss not long ago, and is looking great! She says that I am alot like her, as to what she was like at my age.
But, at that time, there were alot of fad diets, where my nan would make her eat nothing but peaches for a week.. And that just meesed with my mum. She was still growing and thought there was nothing wrong with her weight, so I think that explains why she is supporting me with my decisions with this.

Hi C, and welcome to WLF. Just out of curiosity, do you know your body fat percentage? I think that's a much more important number than BMI. My 23 year old daughter has a "high" BMI, but she is very muscular. I'm trying to get her to pay more attention to body fat percentage rather than BMI.

So today, I was a good girl, and resisted junk! Haha.

Breakfast;
-Apple

Lunch;
-Chicken, Lettuce and mayo roll

After school;
-Apple

Tea;
-Chicken Kiev with 1 corn cob, 3 small pieces of poatato.

And then I had two small choclate chip cookies.
I also drank nothing but water!

Did some sit-ups while watching some stooges skits in my room..

So, I'll try and keep up with this daily!
And I'll do some more sit ups before I'm off to bed!

So today.. I've eaten;

Breakfast;
-Nothing, woke up late! =[

Recess;
-Small bag of plain chips

Tea;
-McDonalds Salad with 3 McNuggets and small orange juice.

As I slacked off today with keeping the calories low, I cut back on overall chewing for today, also today was hectic.. I had no time for anything. I've been drinking water though! And will do extra sit-ups tonight to 'punish' my chips eating! Hahaha.

I think I'll have an apple later on after tea has digested too.

How many calories are you eating a day? Your meals look very small!

Also you should try to have breakfast every day, soon after you wake up. It's a big part in weight loss. It starts up your metabolism from it being slow all night while you've been sleeping, and it also gives you energy and helps you think better at school!

Using website and your details, your maintenance (to stay the same weight..) calorie intake should be 2186. To lose weight, you minus 500 (50 times 7 is 3500, this is how many calories is in one pound of fat). This gives you 1686 calories, to lose one pound a week. You also have to be doing 1-3 days a week of exercise.

Take a look at the website for yourself anyway.

Also, are the sit ups for your stomach? Incase you didn't know, you can't spot-reduce. That means you cant tone your stomach up for nice abs just by doing sit ups, you have to do some cardio and some weight lifting maybe.

Walking is very good, keep that up. Also try walking normally, then speed walking, then normal, then speed. You burn off more calories this way and its good for your heart.

I'm rambling now.. :) If you have any questions just ask.

Oh thank you! I'll check out that site!

My meals can be small, but they are filling.
Especially last night's tea. And I consume alot of water too which fills me up most.
Most mornings, I have breakfast. I've started eating an apple and porridge. It used to just be tea with milk and water though.

But I'll try do more of the exercises you mentioned.
I've asked dad about weight lifting, and I'm not allowed.. Which annoyed me a bit. Which is why I try and get on the bike as much as possible, and I haven't had a chance to go on that for a while.. But, I'll try and get dad to bring it to mum's.

But tonight I was at the shops for about 2 and a half hours, walking around!
My friend at school also had me on a walk during recess, complaining at the point that we sit around at recess. So I think I'll keep doing that too!

Today I started off with a child's serve of porridge (mixed with skim milk), it kept me full until lunch!

Lunch;
Pizza pocket.

Tea; I had 3/4 (8 inch) of a turkey, lettuce, spanish onion and beetroot on a wheat sub from Subway.

And my brother's cake had to be eaten before mum threw it out so I had a spoonful of that. And I'll have an apple later on.

I had a sip of Pepsi Max, and I'm halfway through my 1 litre bottle of water.
I also downed a litre of my water last night after I logged off from here.

Tomorrow I'll try get to dad's and get on the bike for a while, go see my horses and walk my dog around the sand dunes! Have a motivation day tomorrow! ..And an early night tonight, so I can wake up early for once and get a good breakfast.

72.8!

And that was after eating breakfast! Which was Poridge with diced apple in it.
And I danced around the house with my little sister for about 15 minutes, which was fun!

Things are looking up again! Hahah.
Since I gained weight after Easter and school Holidays.

So overall today, after I posted this morning.

I had a chicken risotto Lean Cuisine and then went to dad's house. I took my dog for an hour and bit walk around the block and then out around the sand dunes. And did 74miles on the exercise bike, I took my time, it wasn't a sweat.. But at least I did something active.

Spoiled it, getting a grilled chicken burger from Hungry Jacks (Burger King), had a 750ml of water and a can of Pepsi Max while at my neighbours house playing darts.

Okay, today..

Breakfast;
Sultana and Apple porridge
Piece of toast (whole meal bread)

Lunch;
Honey buzz porridge
Chicken soup

Tea;
Roast chicken and 1 and a half of roast potatoes.

I've been lazy with exercise today, I'll do some stuff later.
And I'll down some water from now until bed.
