Deadlift Question

My gym has everything BUT a place to perform deadlifts. My question is what can I do in place of them that will give me the same workout?

Thanks in advance

they dont have a barbell and a floor? seriously, theres no place you can do them? my gym dont have an assigned space for it. I just take one of the bench barbells and do them in front of the bench.. or anywhere theres room.

Yeah, no doubt. Having a stand helps, but as Karky said, a barbell and a floor are all you need. I don't believe there is any replacement for the deadlift.

I guess I could try to find room but they have stuff everywhere!(except in pathways where you walk) Would doing the same type movement but with dumbbells be something thats like deadlifts?

Personally, I'd go with a barbell if I had a choice (just grab one and instead of doing curls, do deads...takes about the same amount of space) but a vid.

Pastert: I mix it up between bar bell and dumbbell. DB allows you to hold the weight towards your sides, allowing you to really activate the shoulder-girdle.

Does your gym have a squat rack?

If you have squat and powerracks you should be fine. I do them there all the time. I thought you had none of these things. A lot of places don't have dedicated deadlift stations. You can work around that pretty easily with the above equipment.

agreed with DEF. I've never actually belonged to a recreational gym that had deadlift platforms. Only the athletic training facilities I've been to.

well this is a deadlift thread so I thouhght i would ask.

Whne i get to my last set on 5x5 i tend to do the 1st one put it down and take like 3 sec to reset and do that. But the last ones I have to stand up and reset as I am tired but I finish the 5 reps.

Does this still count as my 5 rep max?

well your 5 rep max would be more than you can handle for 5 sets, 5rm would be 5rm, you could probobly only do 1-3 sets of that, not 5.

But ill stop nipticking and answer the question. I wouldnt count it, if your too tiered to do them right after eacother and have to rest you cant do it. Resting a bit before pulling up again is ok though, it prevents the whole bouncing the weight off the floor thing, i always put the bar down on the floor, so the entire weight rests on the floor, then pull it back up.
