Day one. Success?

So, today was my first official day of trying to control myself. Having had a lot of first official days in the past and utterly failing, I decided I wouldn't go all the way today. Instead, I set a rule that I am not allowing myself to break until I am off my diet and have reached my target weight. My first rule is, no drinks with calories and no food after 9 pm.

This was harder than expected. I ate as I usually do - very badly - throughout the day, but was successful in sticking with my rule I'm going to follow this rule, and this rule only for a few days and then add another rule, and so on until I have myself under control. Today I ate:

Large chicken salad sandwich on onion bun with cheese
piece of bread
baked beans
some crackers, cheeze-its and pretzels with dip
tortilla chips and salsa
two medium pieces of mexican casserole
peanut butter cup ice cream

Some may not call this success, but in sticking to my rule I give myself hope. If i can stick to this rule, I can stick to another and another and another until I am under control and able to stick to an actual diet, something I have NEVER been successful at.

Let me know what you think!
Thanks. :)

Why didn't you have the ice cream sugarfree? I have been eating when I want Ice Cream sugar free ones, only one scoop a day! That would have been less calories to your day!

Have u set a rule of drinking 2L of water? this helps reduce hunger! Also, set a rule to avoid chips. There are other healthier snacks! like carrot, celery, and cucumber in light dip.. dunoo.. just my 2 cents!

You are doing great. I think that setting mini challenges like no fat drinks and food after 9pm is great. Try making it until 7pm! My last food intake is at 7pm!

Good lucccccckkk! You can do it :)

I think it's a good plan to pick one thing at a time. Sometimes we overwhelm ourselves with the idea that we're going to CHANGE OUR LIVES (in all capital letters) and then when we can't stick to that ideal, we get frustrated and give up.

Instead focus on the small things. One thing at a time. You'll get there. :)

Thanks for your comments! I agree, mini rules has seriously helped me out. I have tried so hard in the past to just go nuts and give up everything I love all at once only to find myself eating shamelessly out of the refrigerator a couple hours later.

And yes, I'm totally going onto bigger and better things! After my health scare, I probably wouldn't even touch ice cream!

very nice... small changes will add up. the bottom line rule is to eat less and move more. its that simple. if you eat less than you were before you will at very minimum not gain anymore, combine that with moving more than you did and you have a recipe for making changes to your body :)

next i would suggest replacing a processed food meal, with a skinless chicken breast :)

small sustainable changes that you form into habits are the difference of "coming off" a temporary "diet" and gaining the weight back
