Day 26 and making progress

I started my "diet" on June 22, 2008. Today makes Day 26 and as of this morning, I have lost 18 pounds. Not through starvation or crash dieting either- I've cut my calories back to 1300 a day and I incorporate lots of whole grain foods and protein (salmon and other fish make this very easy) and I've been going to the gym almost every day since last Monday. As crazy as it seems, I want to kick myself for not doing this sooner. I always though dieting meant you had to eat like a rabbit, so I never did it. Now I realize that a true diet, one that works, means eating normal food, but eating a lot more of the lower calorie healthy stuff combined with smaller portions of the not so healthy stuff... really not so hard once you get started. Getting the motivation to go the gym is a different story. I just had to force myself to do it- I go before work so that makes it less likely to come up with an excuse for being too busy- who's too busy at 5am, right? So anyway, I'm just realy excited to have this forum to come to each day and it keeps me motivated and inspired. This site and all the pictures you guys keep posting make the process so much easier for me to stick with. I'm planning on posting monthly progress photos soon- I hit one month in just a few days and I'm hoping to reach 20 pounds lost by then... I'm loving the 5+ pounds a week for as long as I can since I know it will soon go down to a normal 1-3 pounds per week. I have a loooong way to go, so I take it day by day. Every little bit of encouragment helps! :) Look for progression pics soon!!!

Great job on the 18 lbs so far! What's your starting weight? There's no way I could exercise at 5 am... that takes major motivation - good for you! Sounds like you have a plan and you're eating in a way that you can continue once you finish your 'diet'. I look forward to seeing you reach your goals!

You're doing awesome. Keep up the great work. I do go to the gym, but 5AM is true commitment. Why not look into getting a ticker for your sig line. They are motivating and you can set if for a mini-goal if the whole thing is to intimidating. Can't wait to see and hear about your progress. Congrats on your loss so far.

Here it is- mystarting weight- yikes!

So here's my starting weight.. wow- I haven't even told my noyfriend my strting weight and I'm posting it here! He'd never believe me anyway because although it is obvious I am overweight, I do not give the appearance of my beginning size. The few people I told had a jaw dropping reaction because they didn't believe me. I had a jaw dropping reaction too when I got on the scale- talk about a dose of reality!!! I imagine as the pounds continue to drop I will want to shout the weight change from the rooftops. Alright, enough delaying. I tok the last poster's advice and created a ticker... here ya go! If it doesn't work this time, I'll try posting it again. :)

first before pic..

Ok- it's not quite a full body image, but I posted it because it was the taken the day before I started this new way of life. My hair is naturally blonde, but I dyed it back two years ago and it;s still fading out.. my plan is to get a whole new haircut and style after I lose 30-40 pounds as a reward to myself. I have some more before and old pics in my profile if anyone wants to take a pic. When I'm braver, I'll post full body shots as I continue to lose weight. :)

I took a look at your photo gallery... you're so pretty with those amazing, penetrating eyes! With the plan you've put in place and dedication to exercise, you're on your way back to that girl in NYC!

Wow that's great! I wake up a about 5:15 am three days a week to workout so that I won't have any excuses not to workout when I get off work too! Keep up the good work!:hurray:
