Day 1

Take it off!! Take it all off! [weight that is!]

DAY 1:: I'm starting a new journal because it's the start of a fresh new outlook on exercising. No more excuses, I got my treadmill, I'm ready to turn over a new leaf and get this weight off!!!

Sunday November 18::

Starting weight:: 280
Starting shirt size:: XXL
Starting pant size:: 24

Ate:: cheese danish [I know, I know, very bad! But so tasty!] -- 540
Beef, boiled -- 208
Beef gravy -- 46
Mashed potatoes -- 125 [1% milk used instead of whole]

Exercise:: Treadmill: 2.9mph: 1 mile: 22minutes

Calories burned:: 203

Calories eaten:: 919

Drank:: 16fl oz water

----------------------

I need to start eating at least three meals a day and drinking more water, but I can build up to that. Important thing is to do it slowly instead of rushing into everything!!

I'm going to weigh myself every Sunday and Wednesday [I generally weigh myself everyday, but I get antsy!]

----------------------

I really should cut out sweets, but I can't do it. I can cut back on them but I can't rule them out all together or else I'll pig out on them eventually!
:cheers2:

cutting back is better than cuttng out for the reason yuo mentioned - eventually -I think, you will lose your taste for them as long as you're incorporating lots of healthier foods into your day - but the occassional treat won't hurt your progress...

and welcome to your new diary:)

Thank ya =)

Yah, hopefully I'll lose my taste for them. I know my Father has started eating them only once a week and he's been losing about a pound a week just from cutting that out!

it's total calories that contribute to weight loss - not where they come from - though a cheese danish is pretty much a nutrition wasteland... :) at least have a cherry danish and pretend you're getting some fruit :D

Sunday November 18th::Calories according to fitday.com

[The other was according to calorie-count]

Calories Eaten:: 1,277
Calories burned:: 22minutes:: 1 mile:: 56 calories

That doesn't make sense?? Even the treadmill said 100 or so, and when I used a different calorie burned counter that takes your weight into account it came out to 203. [the treadmill doesn't take your weight into account so]

I think that you should maybe consider eating more calories than that.

1277 still sounds too low to me.

If you get your body used to a low amount of calories it can work against you. You need quite a lot of calories to get all the nutrients that your body needs to keep it healthy and give you energy.

I would try and read up on the nutrition side of things if I were you and try to drink more water. A lot of people recommend 64 fl ozs cold water.

Good luck with your project.

Take care
Best wishes
Margaret

Yah, I said above that I need to work on that whole eating thing =P

I'm usually really good about drinking a lot of water, but considering my sleeping patterns I need to straighten out alot. It'll all come in due time

To be honest, any calories burned calculator isn't going to be accurate - don't worry about the calorie burnage -and instead focus on the amount of minutes you're spending doing the work - and the intensity in which your working...

and spend some time reading the stickied threads in the exercise forum and do add some weight training to yur program...

Just had to pop by and tell you I love the title of your diary...UNCOVERING BEAUTY. It is a very inspiring idea! I'm glad you've decided to eat better and exercise more, to really get moving and knock off your extra pounds. Excess weight is such a burden physically and emotionally! I think it is great that your Dad is also trying to make better eating choices with regard to his sweet tooth. You show that sweet tooth who's boss! :smash: LOL That has always been an issue for me, too. Until I finally started getting adequate protein in my diet, that is. Now I am just not really even tempted to overdo it.

I wish you great success on your journey; it seems as though you've already been off to a pretty good start!

cheers

I'm going to try doing two 15 minute sessions on the treadmill to fit 30 minutes in there. I just need to find something fun to do while doing it. Need to find something that really catches my attention on TV or something, cause I get bored really fast! :biggrinjester:

My 18th Birthday is in exactly 1 month from todays date and I have 1 mini goal, and that's to reach 265.

Ya ever notice when you start working to lose weight, all of a sudden, things like hip bones and collar bones seem to be more pronounced, even if you haven't lost anything? Altho, my collar bone lets me know how much weight I'm losing. At 5lbs you cant get a hint of it, at 10 you can almost see it, at 15 and 20 you can really see it. So I know if I gain weight by that. It's the strangest thing to judge weight by. =P

Okay, so I did 30minutes on the treadmill, thought I was going to die! These past 3 days is the most I've worked out, in well, a loooong time. Pathetic, I know.

I need to add some sorta, weight training, but I'm not sure as to what or how to go about doing that. I'd have to stick to house hold objects. Hmmm..:toetap05:

Hi, Beauty! Way 2 go for spending 30 on the 'mill! Not so much fun at first, I know...but I absolutely LOVE walking/jogging now, so long as my foot doesn't give me any grief. In fact, I love that more than any other exercise (almost:rolleyes:)! Especially if I can do it out of doors in the fresh air, on a quiet street or park.

Keep up your new lifestyle; it will take a while to become habit, but you are worth it. Think of how FANTASTIC you'll look as the weight comes off! You're already a looker, so you should be stunning by then!

Cheers from :eh:

Yanno the funny part? I can't walk/run on a treadmill without holding on. I have this horrible habit of no balance on those things!! I need to just get used to the damned thing first.

Thank you for the kind words!

My sleepings so screwed up. I'm hoping it goes back to normal soon! I want to see sunlight! My "days" are from around 4pm to 8am.

My "breakfast" is when I wake up, lunch is eaten around dinner, and dinners just a salad [well, has been for the past two nights] around 11:30pm. And then no more food for the night. I don't want to start eating habits during the night. I 'workout' at 10pm while watching The George Lopez show.

So I weigh myself when I wake up in the afternoon. Since my "female issues" are dwindling, I've been a consistant 276/275 during the days/nights so I'm curious to see what my weight is come Sunday.

Getting on the treadmill everyday is such a hassle, well no, not a hassle but I'm not used to making a commitment to something like that, let alone sticking to it. But I'm hell bent!

It's cool tho and annoying, I'll jump on the 'mill and after about 5 minutes realize that time is going soooooo slow, but when I reach 30minutes I realize "aw damn, I CAN do this" which means there is no reason to slack off now. I hate when I prove that I can do something, lol.

I'm going to finish this week off with 30minutes on the treadmill per night then next week see if I can bump myself up to 40minutes then 60 minutes that week. I'm gonna stick with doing an hour for a week or two, then do 1.5 hours [split up] then 2 hours a day. I just need to find my groove, so to speak.

I've only been at this 3 days and even though the front of my mind is saying "God this is boring/hard/annoying/I'm hungry/feed me! feed me! I'll eat you if you don't" I do feel better.

Oh! And I haven't felt any bit of 'hurt' from walking 3.0mph, I was sure I'd feel it after the very first time, but I think it has to do with the fact that with friends, we usually just walk the mall when we go and I'm used to it. I also think I walk a bit faster, in general, then 3.0, so for me to keep up with for a long durtion 3.0 is fine, but if I want to push myself/make it hurt, I'd have to up it. Granted, I don't want to push myself on speed, I just want a steady pace for time right now.

Mini goal:: Learn to walk on the freaking treadmill without tripping/losing balance/falling over/flying off..okok, seriously, without holding on. I can't comfortably walk without holding on yet.

Day 5, Day 6

Thursday 22nd/Friday 23rd

Let's see, I didn't bother counting calories. Thanksgiving would have drowned me and alot of homemade stuff you can't really count calories. But you can guess!

Wednesday I refrained from eating too much because I was baking that night and I knew I'd be up snacking on what I made. Thursday morning I made mashed potatoes with corn and some cheese baked, cause I was starving. That was around 5am.

We ate around 3:30pm. Had...

1 roll
1 serving of stuffing
1 serving of real mashed potatoes
1 serving of corn
gravy
1 small piece of turkey
a few candied sweet potatoes
1 Bacardi breeze

I was so full, I thought I was gonna fall over and pass out. Passed out around 5pm to 8 or 9pm. Ate 1 piece of cheese cake. 1 glass of pop [gingerale] and a few odds and ends through out the night. Baaad me!

Friday, I ate Thanksgiving all over again. One plate of food and I was done. And 1 piece of pumpkin pie with cool whip and a glass of apple juice.

Erm...then around 2am tonight I ate a roll and turkey sandwhich with spicy mayo.

I haven't slept yet so my "new day" hasnt started yet. Tho I try not to eat at night.

I NEED to catch back up with my drinking water. Too much pop and juice these past 2 days. So water, water, water! Tomorrow.

And Exercise...oy...haven't for 3 days now. BAD ME!

Day 8

Sunday November 25

Weight:: 277

Calories eatin:: Ham hogie [roll, ham, lettuce, some mayo]
Pepper poppers
1 piece cheese cake
1 Bacardi Raz
12fl oz apple juice

A) The hogie, not so bad calorie wise
B) Poppers, instant death. Deep fried, peppery, cheesy death
C) Cheese cake was, less then yummy. I'm not doing that again, it seemed like a great idea at the moment, and at the end, I was kicking myself for it
D) Lay off the alcohol. It's not helping anything, in any way, shape, or manner. Just stop.
E) I like apple juice

Exercise:: Yeh..didn't do that.

Calories burned:: None

Excuse:: "I'll do it tomorrow", lame excuse at that.

My boyfriend is currently not around. [Military stuff] And wont be around for awhile. Holiday's always depress me and then it hit with him not being around and everything went down hill and *boom* I'm at the bottom currently. I just haven't put in the effort to dig my way out yet, which I need to do. This too, should pass. It's just been screwing with my mood. I haven't had a want to do anything at all.

Which, I need to just get over it. Sulking and feeling down wont help a damn thing. I can't help it, but I can help as to whether or not I just let myself lay around. Depression sucks, specially when it hits you all at once. [I've got depression issues, and sometimes they really knock me on my ass] But, you live and learn.

I think I'm going to go strike up a date with the treadmill here in a few minutes.

You had better be on your date with the tread mill, missy!

You are doing well and just need to keep it up! Holidays can be a very depressing time and if you need to talk/rant/get motivate/anything send a message my way. I have a couple good ears all ready to listen.
