'Cutting it out'

I'm sure this will be a divisive subject.

So, what is the best strategy? Should you cut out all of your sins or maybe save some for a very occasional treat?

In my case I've cut out the following completely from my diet:

hot deli food - far too greasy - chips, kebabs, most take away food actually, Bourneville and Yorkie Chocolate bars, crisps and white bread.

These are my principal sins and if I remove them I'll have won half the battle.

Some things I will not or cannot cut out however:

Beer (More seldom now than it used to be, but still) mayo, brown sauce, butter (The real, Irish kind) the occasional muller rice yogurt. Diet coke (I know its calorie free but its additives play havoc with your system)

Any thoughts?

That's a good idea, I've cut out soda, had my last cake donut yesterday and Facebook.

I love Facebook. But I get so involved in it, I sacrificed exercise for it, which now that I am looking back is dumb. I couldn't be motivated to get up an hour early to exercise, but I will (at least used to) get up early before work to check my Farm, Cafe and Fish.... I know pathetic.

I think certain things that are detrimental to your weight loss goals should be cut out completely until you have enough will power to have them in moderation. For me that's Coke soda, love the cola man, DD glazed cake ... can taste it now, and FB.

Other than that you can probably have certain things in moderation or as a treat, like before when I was serious about my dieting, I cut out most sweets, but treated myself to a strawberry cheesecake ice-cream every Sunday. I waited for that all week and kept focused.

So I guess you have to decided what you can handle in moderation, if you can control it, don't cut it out completely, but if you can lose track of how much of it (food or drink) you will take in, then cut it out completely.

I cut out ice cream in August I stopped working out and some how I got below 240 been trying for months. I was still walking. 240's it was my plateau. Not matter how hard i tried couldn't get below it. Now I'm on a roll. I'm now 232.

Ice cream and me have a love. Esp since I love diary queen blizzards...but when I looked em up and realized they had 1100+ calories..it stopped right then and their.

It is very hard to cut out these foods completely that is why I try to focus on cutting out one treat at a time...I always allow myself one treat or guilty pleasure at the end of the week to keep me motivated...
