cut or bulk? i dont know wat to do!?

im really flustered right now ...
first of all ... i dont even know if i want to bulk up ... because i cant see the true size and tone of my muscles right now because i have just enough fat over chest, stomach, sides ect covering them. so i dont even know if i want to bulk ... but then sometimes i feel that my pecs arent that great of a size and think i should bulk up.

heres where the opposition thoughts come ...
i really want to see myself cut and defined ... i have already lost about 10-15pounds and its alot nicer being lighter ...
and snowboarding season is coming up and being lighter would help me out with tricks ect.

so i realy dont know what to do ... i dont want to get a huge build.. i dont want to be seen as a big, giant guy or ne thing ... just medium build and get cut...
so do i focus on bulk up for some of the winter and sacrifice a bit of skill from snowboarding .. and be a lil chubby in the winter?
or do i get cut right now .... see what i look like (if i liek the size of my muscles or not)?

i dont blame ne one if they dont want to reply to this post ... because i guess its kinda a personal preference decision.
but if ne one has some encouraging things about either decision that would help ... and some info on bulking/cutting is always welcome.
thanks

i agree with you what you said above. big congrats on the 10-15lb weight loss. if bulking up will hurt you for snowboarding, dont do it.

but still hit the weights and maintain good nutrition. it'll help you when you're on the board. :)

I totally see what you're saying. I'm a big skier, and sometimes i find that having larger then average muscle size can hinder my performance.

What you might want to look into doing is an equally intesne weight training workout, but keep the reps a littler higher. This is a generalization as everyone is different in their muscle growth. But if you do a nice well rounded lifting routine, keeping the reps around 10, you'll put on some nice lean, high quality muscle, without getting HUGE!

yeah .. hmmm
can i still be on a low cal diet with doing high reps (more intense) workout and make ANY gains, adler ?

thing is ... im naturally a big guy. i was born 9lbs and i already have pretty broad shoulders. im not insanely huge or ne thing ... but above average broadness and bulk. meaning, there is no way (even if i tried) to look lil skinny pinner. ive also done alot of physical labour throughout my life ... and while doing prety much most of it i would be eating high in calories, because that was just my normal diet.

im just worrying that if i shed all the lbs off me, ill almost look scrawny :S

i still need some muscles to grow tho ... like my lats need to get better ... pecs, its hard to say cuz i cant really see the whole definition under some fat... but apparently from what i hear they will not grow unless i eat alot of calories and gain weight.

i just have some questions ...
will i make ANY gains even while on a low cal diet? is it possible?
alder, will doing high reps more intense workouts let me gain some muscle ?

because i really need to gain some lats and a couple othr muscles.
:S i hate hard decisions
thnx all

If you keep the reps at 8 - 10, you'll put on muscle, but it will be high quality muscle. You won't appear bulky like traditional power lifters. Do 3 or 4 sets of everything, but keep your calories around 2500 a day, maybe more if you're doing cardio as well.

It's hard to explain, but when you're working out hard, and dont eat enough, your fat loss will actually slow. Eat a well rounded diet, you can find good examples in mens health and magazines along that line.

alrite that does encourage me.
but 2500 calories a day would mean that im not on a diet
as of now im eating around 1500-1600 .. because my bmr is approx around 2000 calories a day.
so im suppose to drop it by 500 right .. for safe fat loss with minimal muscle loss? i take glutamine too so that helps prevent muscle loss.

i know when i workout i can up the calories ... or when i do cardio .. but 2500 would be near bulking up for me.

im 6' tall, 186lbs (last time i checkd), 19 yrs , about 17% bodyfat (i think)

im keeping calories low.
it feels like ive been putting on some muscle a bit while low cal dieting ... but maybe its just the fat going away and more definition that leads me to think that.
blahh ... im going to cut i guess ... hopefuly ill gain the muscle still in areas i wish.. just have to see.

1500 calories is okay maybe for a week or 2, but after that you are setting yourself, and your metabolism, up for some serious damage. 1500 is incredibly low. Bump it up to at least 2000.

i know it does sound low
but if my bmr is around 2000 , i should make a 500 calorie defecit should i not?
if i exercise or workout that day ill bump it up to 500 under my active metabolic rate ... so it would be like 2000 and if i have a really active day itll be 2500.
