Cut Em Out!

Hey, Long time no see....

Dont worry about my past I just came back here to ask a question or two so here I go.

I play football almost everyday at school so I get good exercise each day, I also stay late after school to play football which can last for hours but at home I eat soooo many sweets and junk and drink gallons of fizzy drinks.

I was thinking of cutting sweets, cakes, fizzy drinks ( all the good stuff xD ) Out for a whole year, Is it possible to not only get healthier and fitter but lose "fat" from doing this.

I do not want to go on any crazy diets or exercise routines which is why I want to do this for a whole year.

What do you guys think?

If you eat fewer calories - i.e. you don't replace your cakes with an equal number of calories from protein shakes or whole wheat pasta etc. then you definitely can lose weight like this.

However, if you think to yourself "Since I'm cutting out all this unhealthy food, I can eat as much as I like of the 'healthy' stuff" it's possible you won't lose, or could even gain.

On the other hand, that isn't necessarily what will happen. I'd say try just cutting out the sweets for a month and see how it goes - if you're losing weight, great! If not, you may have to take another look at what you're eating and figure out how to actually lower your calorie intake.

Hope that helps!

That being the case, I'd say it's definitely a good plan to cut out the sweets - just make sure you get plenty of protein, so it's easier to put on muscle rather than fat. And lift heavy things.

At your age, that should be a good jumpstart to get you building muscle and being more fit - so it's a great opportunity. Your body may never again be as able to build muscle and become fit - unless maybe you take steroids:p
