cut/bulk timeframes / commets?

Ok, so quick history. Bulked a bit (4-5 months). Put on a small-med amount of muscle mostly it seemed on my upper body (minus arms?!). Full body 3x a week. Im what I refer to as skinny fat. Weight averages from 160-175. Where most guys have a higher muscle to fat ratio, I have the reverse. For 160 I have almost no muscle (more now...) and all fat, so im very jiggly. Im t 160 now, and would like to try to burn off ten more pounds before I quit this cutting cycle. Problem is that Its been very very very slow losing just 20 pounds. Its taken about 5 months. Which Im fine with really. I just find it odd I dint really see all that much difference in my body at 160 vs 180 with regards to muscle definition.

So after the last ten pounds, and five month off cutting Ill be at 150 at which point I plan to bulk again. But this time Im going to go according to weight rather than time.

So I plan on cutting to 150, bulking to 160-165, then cutting back down to 150-145.

Its my hope that by keeping the cycles shorter Ill be able to whittle with each phase the fat/muscle ratio in favor on muscle over fat. five months is way to long. too much time to eff up. etc etc.

And Im in this for the long haul, as much as I feel like I should have made alot more progress than I have this year, I know that its a life long effort. I just need some reassurance that this bulking / cutting thing will work, because so far aside from losing 20 pounds, it doesnt feel like im 'cutting'. just losing weight.

oh and ps. im cutting with 3 x full body per week, as well as 3 x HIIT and 1 or 2 steady state 37-42 minute decent paced (med breathing) stationary bike rides.

diet is the meh factor. I eat better than anyone i know (which is not really saying too much). I think i need to trim carbs down a bit and train myself to eat them first thing in the morn and only before a work out. I seem to have trouble with that. but aside from that its a whole wheat. lots of fruit and veggies, skinless boneless chicken and turkey, etc etc. my overall diet problem is i tend to eat one meal too many (most meals average at home around 350-450 calories) which usually pushes me over the desired 500 calorie deficient range.

anyway im rambling. so...yeah. any comments on my state of affairs?
