I came across this site, when I was looking up Joggin' in a Jug, cause it's a "new" recipe my sister is going to use to lose weight and get regular. So I thought I'd post this link.

Anyone ever tried Joggin' in a Jug? Guess it's a mixture of apple juice, grape juice, honey and vinegar.

Joggin' in a Jug Drink
Servings: 1

Ingredients:
1.00 c Apple juice
1.00 c Grape juice
1.00 tb To 2 Tbs apple cider vinegar
-(try 1 until you get used
-to the vinegar taste)

Directions:
Some folks also add a cup of cranberry juice to the above. Keep pouring the portions in a quart or gallon jug. Seems to last forever. The "Joggin' In a Jug" mixture has a higher vinegar taste than the above recipe. This is an old folk's remedy that comes out of Vermont. A man named Dr. Jarvis (if memory serves me correct) spread the news all over Vermont about the benefits of taking apple cider vinegar. The older (and smarter) folks mix one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of room temperature water then add one tablespoon of honey to that. The apple cider vinegar acts like a rotor rooter in your veins and the honey gives energy. You'll notice a remarkable improvement in your energy level after a month.

Doing more googling on it - this blog actually had an intesting comment on it

The concept of "Joggin in a Jug" was and is that there is a healthy benefit to including raw, unfiltered, unpasteurized apple cider vinegar to your diet.
There are many uses for this powerful cleansing and healing agent. However one of the most wonderful uses for Apple Cider Vinegar is for health. The versatility is legendary and is proven to help keep the body healthy, youthful, and ageless!
Vinegar was used by the Egyptians, Romans, Babylonians, and Greeks as far back as in 3764 by the Jewish calendar. Julius Ceasar's army used vinegar to stay healthy and fight off disease. It has been used as deodorant and for tonick drinks. Christopher Columbus took barrels of it on his long journey to the new world to be used as medicine and tonic.
Apple Cider Vinegar stimulates the flow of enqymes and saliva in the mouth therefore improving digestion. It has been shown to reduce blood pressure and strengthen the heart muscles because it acts as a natural blood thinner and artery plaque remover, reducing the risk of strokes and heart attack. Vinegar also contains important potassium, which is vital in keeping the heart and bloodstream healthy. Vinegar has also been found to keep the soft muscle tissues flexible and resilient.
Vinegar has been found to stop headaches, relieve arthritis pain, balance PH levels, ease sore throats, normalize cholestrol levels. Since it helps with digestion it actually can help you get more out of the food you eat causing you to be less hungry. You can actually lose weight if you use a program of excercise along with a daily intake of vinegar.
It is so easy to incorporate vinegar into your daily routine. Make a cocktail of two tablespoons of raw organic apple cider and 1/4 a cup of concorde grape juice and 1/4 a cup of apple cider. And if you have a sweet tooth you may mix 1 tablespoon of organic honey, 100% maple syrup or malasses to taste. If you are diabetic, use the sweet substitute stevia.
Take this cocktail twice a day. You will start to see changes like increased energy, clearer skin, and decreased muscle and joint aches.
Make sure you use raw, organic Apple Cider vinegar, never dead, distilled vinegar because the natural enzymes, minerals, and the nutrients are destroyed in the distilling and pasteurizing process. If the bottle says it was "pasteurized" you don't want it!!!!! You usually have to get the right kind of Apple Cider Vinegar in a health food store. If you get it at the regular supermarket it will usually be pasteurized.
Natural raw vinegar should be pungent, with a rich, brownish color and a visible "mother." (Strand - like substance in the bottom of the bottle) Drinking apple cider vinegar daily, and eating a largely fresh, organic, diet along with drinking the right amount of water and a following a simple fitness program, will change your life so dramatically you will never go back to your old ways!
*The best is the Organic, Raw, Unfiltered, Unpasteurized Apple Cider Vinegar with the “mother,” available most Health Stores.
It seems that the key ingredient is "Organic, Raw, Unfiltered, Unpasteurized Apple Cider Vinegar" probably not found at your local grocery store..

It's not difficult to get enough fiber in your diet - there's really no reason to add in these treatments

ACV - Mother Nature's Perfect Food

Natural (undistilled) organic, raw ACV can really be called one of Mother Nature's most perfect foods. It is made from fresh, crushed apples which are then allowed to mature naturally in wooden barrels, as wood seems to "boost" the natural fermentation. Natural ACV should be rich, brownish color and if held to the light you might see a tiny formation of "cobweb-like" substances that we call the "mother." Usually some "mother" will show in the bottom of the ACV bottle the more it ages. It never needs refrigeration. You can also save some "mother" and transfer it to work in other natural vinegars. When you smell natural ACV, there's a pungent odor and sometimes it's so ripened it puckers your mouth and smarts your eyes these are natural, good signs.

Why Has Natural Apple Cider Vinegar Disappeared from Grocers' Shelves?

The blame for the disappearance of natural raw Apple Cider Vinegar from supermarkets lies on the shoulders of the general public, as well as the producers of vinegar.

Most people buy food with their eyes, not thinking of good nutrition. The vinegar producers failed to enlighten the public on what powerful health qualities were locked within natural ACV. Why? Because most of them had not the slightest knowledge of the health values of natural, raw, organic, unfiltered, cloudy (and to some, less attractive-looking) Apple Cider Vinegar with the "mother." They produced pasteurized, refined and distilled vinegars because the public demanded the clear look. It was simply filling current supply and demand.

Powerful Health Qualities Removed

You cannot completely blame the producers of vinegar. They are not nutritionists, nor are they biochemists. Their business is to give the customers what they want. Most people purchase vinegar for flavoring, also for pickling and marinating their foods. Some women use it to rinse their hair after shampooing, as it leaves it squeaky clean, softer and much easier to manage.

ACV is also a germ fighter in the home, lab, etc.. Some mix it with water to wash windows, as it removes sludge and keeps them sparkling clean. ACV has hundreds of uses and its versatility is legendary as a powerful household cleansing and deodorizing agent free of dangerous chemicals. (See pages 102 to 104 for vinegar cleaning hints.)

ACV Has Powerful Health Qualities

Both the general public and the producers of vinegar have been informed as to the powerful health qualities of organic, raw, unfiltered, fully ripened ACV. Ignorance isn't always bliss! When most people see natural apple cider vinegar with the brownish color and the tiny, cobweb "mother" floating in it, they think it looks unappetizing. The general public has been educated and brainwashed to want everything they purchase to have perfect eye appeal!

To meet this demand that vinegar must be clear, light colored and free from the brownish, cobweb "mother" is the reason producers distill their vinegar. In distilling, the vinegar is turned to steam by heating. Therefore it destroys the powerful enzymes and distills out the life-giving minerals such as potassium, phosphorus, natural organic fluorine, silicon, trace minerals and pectin as well as many other powerful nutrients! Distilling also destroys the natural malic and tartaric acids which are important in fighting body toxins and inhibiting unfriendly bacteria.

You can see how the public, with their obsession for eye appeal foods, reacts. The producers of Apple Cider Vinegar, who agreed to sell their product for a profit, put a "death warrant" against healthy, organic, raw, fully ripened ACV. The public got what they wanted a clear, appealing, but dead ACV. When natural ACV was hard to find, other strange vinegars began to appear on grocery shelves. The first was malt vinegar, a refined vinegar. It's clear and acceptable to the public. It tastes like vinegar, but has none of the healing qualities of natural, raw ACV.

The universally accepted #1 fruit, the apple, is popular across America and around the world. Early American settlers, the Pilgrims, brought apples to America in the early 1600's and became Johnny Appleseeders, starting apple orchards that eventually spread throughout America.

Commercial Vinegars are Real Tragedies

Then came the real tragedy: a food chemist produced an imitation vinegar from coal tar! It looked clean, white and tasted like vinegar. Today it's the most popular vinegar in supermarkets. It's cheaper than distilled vinegar or malt vinegar. Most people buy these worthless vinegars. there's nothing good about commercial vinegars, except they look clean and taste like vinegar. They have no health value! They don't contain the health values of organic, raw ACV with the mother. Millions worldwide never get the health benefits of this natural ACV as Hippocrates used in 400 B.C.

ACV Helps Stiffness Vanish From Body

You will find, after several months of the ACV and honey cocktail taken 3 times daily that the stiffness and misery will be gone from your joints and body. You will discover you can walk or run up several flights of stairs without any effort and pain! You will notice that you look and feel younger!

Make The Bragg Healthy Lifestyle a life-long daily habit! Over the years we have seen many stiff-jointed, prematurely old people transform themselves into new, youthful, healthy people! We can't do it for you. You must make the effort to give this ACV and honey program a chance to prove what it can do for you!

Question About Apple Cider Vinegar

Many people have some preconceived idea that Apple Cider Vinegar is harmful to the body, Instead it's the distilled, pasteurized, filtered, the malt and synthetic dead vinegars that must be avoided for human consumption!

Let us assure you that there is nothing in this wonderful, organic, raw ACV that can in any way harm your body! People ask us about the merits and benefits of ACV. See the inside front cover for a list of some of the miracles it can perform.

Animal proteins and fats have a tendency to thicken the blood, while natural acids and enzymes in ACV help to keep the blood healthier and thinner. Also, that's why people naturally crave and serve cranberry sauce (which contains four different natural acids) with turkey and fowl. They serve applesauce with roast pork dishes, a slice of lemon with fish, or steak with mushrooms - all rich in natural acids.

The use of Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar is a wonderful health aid, and the #1 food I recommend in helpoing to maintain the body's vital acid-alkine balance. Everyone should read the Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar book. Gabriel Cousens, M.D., Author of Conscious Eating and Spiritual Nutrition.

Acv!

Morning,

Back when I was starting my weight loss journey I did quite a lot of research on apple cider vinegar. I don't think it helped my loss, mind you, but it sure tastes good in a beef soup!

has lots of heartfelt testimonials.

Enjoy,

Barbara

Mal - I looked up that for my sis too - she thought it was a "family" recipe handed down to her friend.

I was just wondering if anyone had tried it. I told my sis the same thing you can get more fiber from eating the fruit than drinking that stuff to help her be more regular. She had a baby like 3 months ago and is trying to get back into shape - and back to her old self. I keep telling her there is no "Old" self. It's the new self, she needs to work on.

Now, when I was younger and my oldest was about 2 - I did try the cabbage soup "diet". I only made one batch - cause one was enough! LOL I had to douse it with soy sauce to even eat it!

Ha, so true! I had to show her thru google. She didn't think to google it before hand, I'm a googler!

i use viegar al the time. as a salad dressing, in cooking, over rice...much better for you than mayonaise or other fatty sauces...but then again not everyone likes that strong vinegar taste...i however could drink it, mmmm

I drink ACV with honey in warm water daily. It has greatly helped to alleviate my pain from shingles. Obviously, the pain lessens over time anyway; but the drop in pain was too drastic and seemed to coincide with me taking the ACV. I am careful to brush my teeth immediately thereafter with baking soda toothpaste, as I don't want the acid to harm my enamel. I am not a Grapenut/Berkenstock/health food only type person. I read up on ACV prior to taking it, reading both the good and the bad. I decided to try it, and have been pleased by the results. Obviously it is not for everyone. The taste is pretty strong.

That's my story about ACV. Research it for yourself, and make your own choice.

Best wishes on your journey,
