Could elliptical be making by butt BIGGER!?!?!

I've been exercising in the gym for about 7 weeks now. Also dieting. Losing some weight. My problem is I think my butt is getting BIGGER and not smaller. And I've been working my butt off in the gym 5 days a week. Using the elliptical (burn 300 - 400 calories), bike (100 - 150 calories) each visit plus working upper body on circuit machines. Is it possible that the elliptical is making my butt bigger?? Everything is fitting tighter and it looks wider and bigger. I'm currently 5'3, 130lbs., D cup and I've always had a filled out butt. Any suggestions for making my butt smaller?
Thanks!!

What is your diet like? A big key to losing weight is diet. Sometimes extreme amounts of exercise and no change in diet make you "worse" off then moderate amounts of exercise and a change in diet.

My diet has been cut down to 950 - 1100 calories a balanced as possible. Including fruits, some carbs, protein and lots of salad (spinach mainly with vinegar) I actually am trying to do the 3 hour deal by eating a little all day long and staying within those calories. Thanks for your help.

am i the only one who thinks that that amount of calories is far too few? if you're exercising surely more is needed, even for a female.

too few calories means more storage of body fat as the body tries to prepare itself for hunger in the future.

Eating all day/smaller meals will definitely help. I doubt you would gain much muscle mass from the elliptical, especially if the incline is low. Don't sweat it too much, especially if you’re losing weight. In the end it might not be such a bad thing, because having a little "junk in the trunk" is not a bad thing.

Wow, your calorie intake is much too low! That's scary. Your body is probably in starvation mode. This means that your body thinks that it's dying...because it actually is. Your body is likely holding on to your fat and wasting away your muscle mass. That could have something to do with why your butt appears bigger, though I'm not sure.

I highly recommend that you start very slowly increasing your calories, to avoid gaining much fat, but improving your metabolism and body functioning. Increase steadily by 50 calories a week. Once you have increased by a few hundred you may want to consider trying a calorie cycling plan to further stimulate your metabolism.

Hope this helped.

I don't want to echo what others have said.. so I'll keep it short.

Eat more.

Focus on strength training the correct way. Do exercises for the entire body. Go to muscle fatigue but with perfect form on every set. And workout consistently.

Vary your cardio length and intensity levels. More cardio does not necessarily mean fat loss. Cardio + weight training + eating well and enough is going to give you what you need.
