I just got back from my first day of the first week of the "couch to 5 k" program. I am shocked at how truely testing it is. About half way through I was about to head to the car. I am very glad I stuck through it. I realize why I hate running. I hate running because I go to fast for my own good which makes it extremely hard to run for a long distance. I downloaded the RunDouble app for the android phone and I am very impressed. This program allows you to choose which work out you would like...I think Ill do the first day workout again tomorrow because I need a bit more practice before day 2. I also decided to try using the MyFitnessPal app for android which allows me to enter my food and exercise in take. It has already made me very concious of my eatting! Also is a GREAT calorie counter.

Is anyone else trying the couch to 5k program? Id like to hear of your experiences and motivational tips!

Thanks for reading!

Hi , welcome to the forum!!!

I started using the C25K i tihnk it must be about 2 months now?Well it certainly gets you active!!!

I thought i just couldnt run, that i would die or something! But i managed real well and now its the main exercise i get!I love going for my run!!!

The app starts out i think at 60 seconds of running?and slowly increases.till you can run a full 30 minutes!I have a journal on here ,you can go check it out i have lots of posts there about my runs! Some are succes some are not!It is hard,i know you get lots of ups and downs but it is so worht it~

I remember day one,i was waitin for the voice to tell me to stop and walk!!!Now i have stopped using it (i didnt finish yet) only cause i found it hard going from 5 minutes to 8 minutes,so i have just put it aside now and go run for times i set myself.

Today im going to go for 2 ten minute runs!So if i manage that i will slowly increase my time!

Where do you run?Are you alone?

Also would you like to tell us bit more about yourself?is this for weightloss or plain fitness?

Sorry for all the questions!

Hey!

I am Ashley Im 23 years old and I am doing this mostly on my own with the random family/friend joining me on occasion. This is most definately for weightloss. I would like to lose about 30-40 more lbs. I am currently 190lbs and at my heaviest I was 312. I usually go for my walks in the park ( I try for at least 2 miles) and My day one run was at the park!

I completely agree about waiting for the voice to tell me to walk lol. The first time I tried the app I only made it half way through and stopped. But yesterday I finished day one and today I finished day two. I chose to work out at my University fitness center today and do the c25k on the treadmill, which I found considerably easier than the park (probably due to the hills and winding path). I know the program calls for a day of rest between but I think its very important to work out when I can find the time.

I did a total of 30 min cardio and I used some of the machines. My mother went with me today :)

Tomorrow I will be working and I am usually very exhausted after work because I am a CNA and I am on my feet walking back and forth taking care of the elderly all day. I consider the days I work a workout in and of themselves because I only work 3 days a week while Im at school.

The questions are great! Its nice to interact! I hope you dont mind mine! Where do you keep your journal on this website? I would like to start one!

How is your diet? I have been tracking my calories through that MyFitnessPal app and I find it VERY helpful to stay on track. How often do you weigh yourself? Any ideas about what I can do with "excess skin"... because ive lost over 100 lbs I find it very hard to get rid of this ugh very frustrating! lol

I have pictures of my current and previous weight..... I am not to sure how to add them to the forum I thought I got it but I guess not... They are on my profile if you can access that!

Hi Ashley!!!

This is the diary section.Your post is your diary~!!! :)

You can log on and write about your food you ate and exercise and feelings it really helps along the way you get lots of support and encouragment when your about to be bad!

unfortunatly the only way for a lot of extra sking to go away is by surgery. But that is for A lot of it.If its just flab you can really tighten up through working out ,lifting weight building muscles

myfitnesspal is really great!i use it too!So you want to loose a few pounds im sure you will manage it and get really healthy AND fit in the meantime!!!!

Also let me say last(i am in a bit of a rush) that resting is really important.SPEdially in while just starting the program.I didnt do that sometimes the firt days and i had really over tired my legs i had this awfull pain in my calves. If you rest a day the next day is more effective cause you can use 100 percent your muscles and your energy to run!!!!
