Construction worker diet

I am a construction worker. My job title is Laborer. I am basically the grunt who has to carry block, brick, mud, carry heavy plank and set scaffolding. I get a pretty good body workout each day. My only concern is that do I overwork my body to the point that I can't gain very much?

I can see a gradual gain in muscle size of the prime areas that I work. My shoulders and my arms. I also work my pecs when I am carrying scaffolding. I am wondering what I should be eating and how much in order to lose more fat and have optimal gain on my muscles.

I have heard contradicting information in different articles. One article states to eat like 120 g of protein a day for my body height and weight. Other articles stated that 60-80 g of protein is optimal. Could someone that is more educated on this inform me. Also, what should my fat and carb intake be. What foods should I avoid.

I read an article about the ABSDIETPOWER from a fitness mag. I have been including those types of foods in my diet. Dairy, spinach, peanut butter, nuts(peanuts & almonds), lean meats(chicken, turkey, 90% lean hamburger). If anyone can add any suggestions to what I should eat and if I can add a muscle building program even if I have been working all day. If I focus on the muscle groups I don't work much during the day(Ex. Chest, biceps, and probably certain leg muscles)

I would appreciate all input from all people. I would really appreciate it. I'm getting too fat and I don't know why as I have been working a lot. I'm sure i'm eating too much or something. (lol)

Information on myself.

Height: 5'10"
Weight: 190
Most fat(abdomen/waist line-- big love handles)

I can get more information at a later time if requested.

Thanks everyone who posts!!! I'm trying to get in shape. I work between 8-10 hour days

I'd say you want at least 150g of protein a day, probably more like 180-200g a day if you really want ot put on muscle.

dropping carbs is my preferred method to trigger fat loss.
