Clothing Size

Does anyone think it's possible to lose inches and not go down a size in clothes? I have lost inches all over...the most in my waist--5 inches--since i started going to the gym 5 months ago..I am smaller, I can see it and my boyrfriend tells me he can tell I am smaller and so do other people..I went to buy a new pair of jeans last week and tried on a smaller size, and although I was able to get in to them, they did not feel comfortable enough to wear on a regular basis and I ended up buying the same size I wore when I started 5 months ago. I have lost inches in my hips, and thighs too, but not as much as in the waist...like I am losing but not in proportion to each other, which I know is normal we can't pick where or when we will lose in a certain spot..i know it will all eventually even out, but was just wondering if it makes sense that I did not go down a size even with the inches lost...I have not lost a lot of pounds since I started the gym--have mostly lost lost of inches..my trainer tells me this can be normal, my fat percentage has gone down and my muscle mass has gone up, so she said things are on the right track...by the way, I have already lost 86 pounds going to weight watchers--they used to tell us that 10 pounds equalled one size drop in clothing..i went down 6 sizes... I did not average 10 pounds per size...I know every body is different
and the time for a person to be able to buy a size smaller is going to be different according to your own body, but could this be a normal thing that i have lost inches and not gone down--based on losing more in one area and not others--like I am smaller in some areas that I could get a smaller size to fit there, but not smaller enough in others to go along with the smaller size????

I was thinking that too--they were from a different store, different brand and seem to be a little more tapered...the thing is too that the old ones are starting to get baggy around my upper thighs!! I am finding that some of my clothes are starting to feel bigger, but the lower size fits in some spots and is too tight in others...it's frustrating!!!

I'm going through the same thing kinda. I have lost a lot of inches, but I'm not necessarily a smaller size yet. Some of my clothes are baggy, some fit just the same as they used to, but when I tried on a smaller size pants they were way too tight. So, my old pants are baggy, and new ones that are a size smaller are too tight.

I'm not worrying about it though, as I know that I probably just have to lose more inches. It is very frustrating sometimes though...

I would check sizing of the same style and same maker. That might be more telling.

if you've got a tailor in your area -- sometimes your local dry cleaner offers the service - if you like the clothes - it might be worth having them taken in a bit so they do fit you for now... until you offically get to that lower size -i know i feel better and make it easier to keep going if my clothes don't feel like they were made by omar the tent maker :D
