Cleanzorz?

ok, so, i've been wondering..
are there any *good*, responsible cleanse plans/products/whatever available out there? Or is it all hype?

I became aware of the 'master cleanse' aka 'lemon cleanse' where you basically only drink molasses (pretty much pure sugar!) lemon (supposedly because its acidity can clean your digestion, but isn't our digestion much more acid than that to begin with?), cayenne pepper (which basically irritates your system and makes you get the runs) and tons of water.

It sounds terrible- sounds like you'd wipe out all your natural intestinal flora.. grossness.

some people on another forum were talking about doing this. And no matter how medically wrong this seems, when people start saying how fantastic and amazing they felt during it and afterwards, I wonder, is there value to it after all?

but are there actually any healthy, not extreme types that could be recommended? I'm not looking into this with weight loss in mind at all, it's just that my digestion has felt bogged down, constipated and downright weird for a while now, and my GP didn't really listen, though I will try again soon.

so.. is there any hope here or should I steer clear altogether?

Well this whole "cleanse" thing is snake oil in my mind. Just keep up on the high fiber foods along with a balanced diet and you should be keeping your digestive tract in check.

When you ask people who cleanse what they're actually clearing out they always give you some vague answer like "toxins" I can't see any scientific benefit towards anything they do.

I don't really care about toxins.. just about my digestion being weird..

weird how, you ask?

accounts of tiay's digestive weirdnessess;

1. I mentioned this one here...
sometimes, I wake up in the morning, and my stomach is all flat. woohoo! only I find that I can't breathe into my stomach. Ok, so, obviously, it's not breathing into your stomach, it's just breathing deeply into your lungs- ie, the opposite of how a corset makes you breathe. you know what I mean. so when this happens, it's kinda like wearing an invisible corset. Not to the point that it gets too annoying, but still, it's weird.

2. my heart seemingly decides to move to my stomach. There's a really strong heartbeat-type-pulse especially in the left side of my stomach. You know the way you can feel your heart beat in your chest after exerting yourself? yeah, the weird stomach pulse feels stronger than my actual heartbeat itself.
Sometimes when I'm lying on my stomach getting to sleep, it is even slightly painful (due to the pressure on it..?) and definitely disturbing.

3. recently, I had this super intense stomach pain. Like I mean, I could not stand up straight. I pushed into my stomach right where the pain was, and something *inside* me gurgled. I massaged it a bit, and it went away.

4. speaking of gurgling noises, sometimes I can breathe in really deeply, and my abdomen makes a weird and very gross noise as it expands, and again when I exhale. A noise like two wet rubber balloons being rubbed together. It's clearly audible- in fact, I like to freak people out with it... :D

5. other than that, it just 'feels' odd sometimes or has little disturbances that I never used to have, like getting flatulent or weird 'moving' sensations after eating. I eat lots of fiber and drink lots of water- and yet I'm still perma-constipated. Though this wouldn't really bother me so much if it wasn't for all the other stuff.
