Clean up after workout?

Hey guys, I'm a high school senior and take personal fitness each school day, mon-fri, during 2nd period. I basically get to go down and lift weights for the period.

My question is are there any products or anything you would recommend I use to clean up after working out? It seems the more I work out, the more acne I get, so I'm thinking if I clean up my face or something, it would help. I don't get enough time to take a shower/wash my face so maybe the sweat left on my face is promoting acne.

What do you think? Thanks.

You need to create some 5-10 minutes somewhere to show and wash your face well after a workout.

Even if there were such a product to apply, it would not substitute a shower and would work well if the face was thoroughly cleaned as opposed to applying it over sweat!

Try this

they are really nice and won't irritate your skin. Don't scrub vigorously either it will make it worse. On another note make sure you rinse your face with warm water before working out to remove any dirt from the surface. I could go on with more tricks but that should help.

How long is ther period? How hard do you work out (do you sweat a lot?)? Do you shower afterwards? Do you touch your face after touching the equipment that hundreds of other smelly, oily, dirty teens have touched for years on end?

50 min, but we actually work out for only 30 min which sucks. I make the best of it, and end up sweating a little but not like crazy. I don't get to shower. I try to keep myself from touching my face before I wash my hands.

Well if you normally keep yourself clean, then try different acne cleansers until you find the right one. I was using Neutogena for a while...hated it. It was terrible. After that I kind of effed up my skin doing this crazy circut of hydrogen peroxide and lotion. Then I started using Proactiv, which cleared up my skin in no time. But now, I use a cheaper version of Proactiv. It's like a rip-off version you can find at Costco and Wal-Mart. It works just as well.

I use just the last part of the proactiv product, the benzoat peroxide (sp?), but not the first two, it took too long. But i use a cleanser beforehand, yet I still get acne on my cheeks. Oh well, we'll see if the cleanser post workout helps. I think it will.

if you can't figure anything out, like I couldn't, I went a got a perscription to Acutane, it's screws with ur head though but it really works and just gets rid of the acne...reallllly dries our your mouth, face lip and eyes thoguh, drink lots of water if you consider this..

try plain Lever2000 soap. its naturally more anti-bacterial than other 'plain' soaps, and has less fragrance/dye in it than, say Zest or Irish Spring.

As for Accutane...jesus...that's the VERY LAST APPROACH to dealing with acne. Aside from the $1,500 price tag, you have to have monthly blood tests to ensure your liver isn't being torn apart. You're also wildly senstive to UV light, and can get a bad sunburn in 15 mins. Plus the level of dryness in skin, lips and hair often requires prescription lip balm and facial moisturizer.

Some people get so depressed due to what accutane does to the body, that a few people have committed suicide. Oh, and it causes horrible birth defects, so most doctors require females to be on birth control pill during an accutane run.

(sorry but I'm sick of people and their desire to take a pill to 'fix' a problem. Yes I took accutane, Yes I had complications and couldn't complete the full treatment, and yes, my acne was bad enough that I had scarring/pitting on my face and chest...painful cystic acne...not just pimples and blackheads)

For some people, thats all they can take. I took it for a short time, heard all the side effects, but it didnt affect me. A few committing suicide while they were on accutane, does not necessarily mean accutane caused them to do it, just that it may be linked to it. It is rather expensive, but they do make a generic. I'm 24 yrs old, and I still have it, the doctor told me that I needed accutane, because regular topical meds arent what I need (explains why proactiv only helped a little). He put me on an oral, a face scrub, and a cream to apply. It has been working alright, but I may still need the accutane, not because its magic, but because it may be the right treatment for under the skin acne. Malk, I definitely respect your posts and opinions, but accutane is not like Trimspa. For some, its the only way to fix a horrible problem.

Its definitely pricey and you do get very dry. My insurance will only cover 240mg a month, and the doctor wants me on 300mg. May not seem like much difference, but we're talking like $1 or more a pill.

As for an answer to this post, go see a dermatologist.
