Who is clean eating?
For how long have you been doing so?
Have you slipped off and ate something you shouldnt?
What's your breakfast?
Options for lunch?
Snack ideas?
Dinner?
What kind of exercises do you do? and how much do you workout per week?
Have you lost weight to date?

Clean eating:
- wholegrains (rice, pasta, bread, crackers)
- oils (olive oil, chilli oil, sesame oil)
- dairy (butter, skimmed milk, cheese, cream)
- meats (chicken, beef)
- seafood (fish, prawns, tinned in brine & fresh)
- fruit & vegetables (anything fresh)
- condiments (tomato sauce, soya sauce, mayonnaise, jams, peanut butter BUT simple & clean versions only)
- drinks (green tea, coffee, water)
- other (nuts- raw or roasted, popcorn, dried fruits)

Daily meals:
- usually 2 hot meals a day (1 rice based, 1 vegetable & dairy based or one meal is sandwiches if I'm on road)
- snacks (anything I can make out the above ingredients - scones, toast, popcorn in oil with butter, fruit & cheese, etc)
- no calorie counting, no volume control

Exercise:
- for 6 - 10 days straight
- 1 hour spinning (high resistance, fast speed, no sitting down) plus 500 crunches, 200 side crunches, various core work plus weights
- about to add 3 days per week doing cross fit training

Weight:
- don't know, haven't weighed myself since 2002 but am 5ft 9 and wear size US 4/6 (UK 8 - 10)
- am the same size I was when I was 20 years old (now 46) so assume I am around 130 - 140 pounds
- am slim, not skinny; am very toned with low fat levels, higher muscle to fat ratio than when younger
- don't ever intend to be slave to the scale again!

Philosophy:
- got sick of the diet game, got sick of yo yo weight (did that for 15 - 20 years)
- wanted to feel healthy & look good
- chose a diet & exercise programme that I could maintain
- made promise to self to accept outcomes & be happy with me
- followed the programme & ignored the outcomes but lost a lot of weight

Naughty treats:
- none but I eat out rarely so when I do I have whatever I want (but I don't eat a lot of sugar so desserts are off the menu)
- and if I''m hungrier for a day then I eat more

Time on this diet & exercise programme:
- 3 years now

For how long have you been doing so?
I started for real in middle of august 2009
Have you slipped off and ate something you shouldnt?
I do get cravings, special around the "womans time of the month" and i try to resist but if the feeling dosent go away i let myself have something "naugthy" but always think carefully what it is that im craving, and then just buy little of it so i dont wind up with a whole shopping bag full of nastys :p
What's your breakfast?
My breakfast is always a bowl of All Bran regular, eat about 15-20grams and then a highfiber crisp bread with cream cheese and ham or someother meat, sometimes i have 2 if im feeling very hungry. And cup of coffee
Options for lunch?
I ususaly never have a hot meal in lunch time, simply because it wears me down, get very lazy and tierd, so i have crisp bread with cream cheese and some meat on and then little bit of cashews and a glass of orange juice and/or coffee with skim milk
Snack ideas?
I have rely stoped snacking after i pulled myself together, i think its coz my bloodsugar is regular now, but i do love to have fruit like passion fruit and fresh pineapple
Dinner?
My dinner plates always have at least half of them full of vegitables, like iceberg, paprika, cucumber, sweet corn, raw onion is the things i use for cold salat, and often i make brocoli and cauliflower gratin. I eat only lean meat, such as beef and chicken, usualy nothing prosest, just 1-2 a month. Rice, potatoes, normal bread and pasta i have complitly taken out of my diet. I do use dressings, but none that are high in carbs.
What kind of exercises do you do? and how much do you workout per week?
I swimm and walk, havent been able to swimm though for 2-3 weeks, am dieing to get back to it, just in a need for new swimm suit. I do crunshes 3 times a week, 50 straigth up and 50 sides, and 20 push ups.
Have you lost weight to date?

Who is clean eating?

I guess I am. My philosophy is to eat natural foods, as much organic as possible, minimize any (all) processed foods, reduce meat consumption, etc.

For how long have you been doing so?

I've been partially clean, if that's a term, for a while, but I went hard core in October 1, 2009.

Have you slipped off and ate something you shouldnt?

Yes, there are times, usually because there isn't an alternative. I've had two meals that were fast food because I wanted to do it. I don't feel guilty, because it's just something that happens once in a while.

What's your breakfast?

Kashi Organic Cereal, with organic rice milk, fruit, and trail mix of almonds/pistachios/raisins/cranberries.

Options for lunch?

It depends, but it can be a salad with grilled chicken, soup (home made), or brown rice and beans and a vegetable.

It's both cold or hot.

Snack ideas?

For snacks I eat fruit, hummus/pita, and more of that trail mix. If I need more protein in my diet that day, I'll hard boil an egg.

Dinner?

For dinner I usually eat a soup (homemade), brown rice/beans/veggie, brown rice/garbanzos/veggie, salads, etc. It's focused on whole grains, vegetable proteins, etc.

What kind of exercises do you do? and how much do you workout per week?

Dancing, pilates, walking and will take up spinning again soon.

Have you lost weight to date?

Since Oct. 2009, 15 lbs, overall, it's closer to 20 lbs.

My goal is change the way that I relate to food, to improve my PCOS symptoms, to create new habits/lifestyle that are "normal" instead of focusing on drastic weight loss.

What in the crap is "clean eating"...???

I wash my food before I eat it and I avoid eating shit off the floor, sooooo, I guess I'd be clean eating, right?

Well, that is a good start ChefChiTown!

My take on 'clean eating' is removing processed foods, too much sugar and staying away from food with chemicals & additives. I don't have an opinion on whether the food needs to be organic but it certainly can't hurt.

Having done this for 3 years now I am a huge fan of 'clean eating'. I still get my version of chips, burgers & pizza but my versions take time to prepare and I feel full at the end (same cannot be said for fast food versions).

But it is more work. We have to buy fresh food every 3 - 4 days. We have to cook everything ourselves. Due to time constraints the meals can get a bit repetitive.

But we went on holiday to a fully inclusive resort at Christmas and there was a buffet 3 times a day. For the first 2 days we went nuts trying everything. But it go so boring so fast we ended up 'clean eating' there as well.

Once you get past the initial cravings for familiar foods the 'clean eating' itself becomes the familiar food.

I think we will eat this way to the grave now. It's a sustainable approach.

Who is clean eating?
I am eating real natural foods, avoiding overly processed food-like substances.

For how long have you been doing so?
End of December.
I started this, not to lose weight, but to be healthier. My goal was to start eating better, and then once my diet was at a healthier state to start incorporating exercise and eating less, but so far I really haven't had to do any other weight loss techniques like calorie counting

Have you slipped off and ate something you shouldn't?
Not really. I stole a couple cookies from those 100 calories packs and maybe 1 or 2 hershey miniature chocolate bars in the last 3 months
I have had other chocolate and sweets, but I made them myself or they were natural foods without the unnecessary chemicals

Dinner?

Food! Eat what you like. Whether its certain fruits, veggies, grains. I feel like I have been so successful with this because I haven't picked up one book or website to decide what foods are good, I eat whatever I am hungry for at that moment. I want sloppy joes? Fine, but I will make them, including sauce, and find a way to make them healthier. At the end of the day, we all know what food we should and shouldn't eat.

What kind of exercises do you do? and how much do you workout per week?
None, other than walking. I plan on getting my gym mastership back at the end of the month

Have you lost weight to date?
27 pounds

I am eating according the diet plan I am following. I do exercise daily and I can fairly say that I am doing well in my weight loss goal.

Who is clean eating?
The definition of "clean eating" is too variable to be able to get any real useful response from this. Some people don't consider you to be eating clean unless you eat 100% organic, or 100% veggie, or 100% vegan ... or whatever. Some people just consider eating clean to be avoiding processed foods. Some people think it means eating a paleo diet. "Clean eating" as a phrase is mostly meaningless. :)

For how long have you been doing so?
I try to avoid processed foods as much as possible and have been doing so for 3+ years. I don't buy into the whole "organic is better" mindset - although I do have strong feelings about organic farming for the good of the environment, but not from the sense of organic being better food. I try to eat mindfully, knowing where my food comes from and being responsible about my choices.

Have you slipped off and ate something you shouldnt?
I don't believe in the concept of "shouldn't" when it comes to my food choices. I believe that some choices are better than others ... but I hate the concept that we've come up with that foods are inherently evil and should be avoided. I choose sometimes to eat processed food - knowing that I am CHOOSING to do so. I sometimes eat things like burgers from Five Guys, potato chips, ice cream, etc. I just try to keep those choices to less than 80% of my overall diet - because expecting 100% compliance to anything restrictive is silly, IMO.

What's your breakfast?
Yogurt and fruit (usually blueberries) or oats and fruit. Sometimes all three.

Options for lunch?
Usually tuna or chicken over a salad.

Snack ideas?
Fruit, veggies, string cheese, V8 juice, boiled eggs, peanut butter on an apple, etc.

Dinner?
Whatever I'm in the mood for, leaning towards lean proteins and veggies and keeping carbs to a minimum.

What kind of exercises do you do? and how much do you workout per week?Weights 3x per week, cardio 3-4x per week. Usually my workouts last for about an hour. ON weekends I try to keep active - it might not be a formal workout, but I go for a hike, work in the garden, do housework, take a bike ride (gotta get a new bike!), etc.

Have you lost weight to date?
84 pounds so far. 30 more to go.
