Circuit Training or 3 Day Split?

Hi everyone...

i recently joined a gym, and got a free fitness assessment with the enrollment. The trainer that I met with (who seemed very knowledgable), told me that to reach my goal of losing 10 pounds by June 15th, I should eat better (damn!) and do more of a circuit style of training. He said that this would keep my heart rate higher, as I would constantly be moving, and would burn more calories. He said to pair 3-4 exercises up, changing between upper and lower body, and do that circuit a few times. awesome.

then i went on a site (exrx.net) to look into programs to help me to get on track. they make a point, somewhere on the vast amount of knowledge that is on that site, that circuit training has been kind of proven to not burn fat as efficiently as more standard weight training and aerobic training (when paired together).

So, i currently have TWO workout plans sitting in front of me. One, a full-body workout, arranged in a circuit style. 3 circuits of 4 exercises (3 strength and 1 cardio move). The other, a 3 day spread, with a Pull/Push/Legs model. Does anyone have any idea which would be better for me? .... or am I looking too much into it, and should just keep moving instead of sitting in front of a computer trying to research it (thus, burning NO calories... ha).

any input would help. Thanks! :D

Personally I would go with the push/pull combined with added cardio sessions. circuits are good if you have a group of people doing the same workout and are also good if you have a problems keeping interested in your workout but either way you will still get the benefit.

on a side note the exrx site was developed by the owner as part of his masters thesis. but if your interested in exercise research you should take a look at some of the research coming out of Oslo
