chrisrad's weight-loss

So Sunday, July 16th I started my diet. Sunday morning I weighed in at 221.5 pounds. I couldn't believe it so I weighed myself several times just to make sure the scale wasn't screwy. And it wasn't. I was getting HEAVY. When I saw 220+ I decided enough was enough. So I had to come up with a game plan. The plan includes me cutting out the following foods--

Fast Food (possibly a salad if I do go though)
Soda (unless it's Diet, Fresca or Light Lemonade)
Candy
Ice Cream

I've done some "food research" if you will. And I found I can keep some things in my diet that I do enjoy such as Starbucks Cafe Vanilla Frappucinos :) . Just ask for a fat free version and its less than 150 calories. Also, even though it's not the same, sherbert is a decent replacement for ice cream.

In the exercise department, I started out this week going for walks. I've been taking my 4 year-old daughter out for walks in her stroller. So not only do I get her out of the house for 30-45mins, but I get to burn some calories off as well. Maybe once I drop some weight I will start jogging.

So onto the diary part- The first few days were tough. I had been used to gorging myself. I have/had this thing where I always had to finish what was on my plate. I couldn't stand to leave food behind. So yeah, reducing my caloric intake to around 1500 left me feeling hungry. But after a few days, I guess my stomach shrunk down.

I took some pictures today and I plan on posting them up. But I want to do 10-pound intervals so I am sure whatever I weigh today I will weigh tomorrow. So I will post them after I lose 10 more pounds from whatever I weigh tomorrow. Hopefully there will be a noticeable difference from 10 pounds. We'll see I guess. I will post again Sunday morning to let you all know what the outcome is. :)

Sunday I do my weekly weigh-in so I am curious to see how this first week went.

hey! Welcome! Good on starting your own diary. Cutting out the foods that you chose to cut out is good. And I would suggest avoiding any fast food place for the fist few weeks. The smell of walking into one of those places just makes your stomach yell out for yummy greasy food! :D Walking is a great way to get in exercise, and cutting calories is another great way.

I'm still slightly new to this, so I'm hesitant to say much more, as there are people much more informed on what's "right" or "wrong" of weightloss. But, good luck on your journey! and welcome!

Well, I just weighed myself-- 211.5!!!!!

I lost 10 pounds this week. Pretty crazy stuff. Apparently eating healthy foods and lots of exercise does work.

This week was horrible. I couldn't get any exercise due to all the afternoon thunderstorms and I ate at Outback TWICE. This week I am going to start walking in the mornings so the t-storms won't be an issue. So yeah... I lost 1/2 pound this week, and that is most likely just water weight since I weighed myself when I first woke up. Pretty discouraging yet motivating at the same time.

This week went better. I got a few walks in this week and didn't eat out at all. Well, I think I had a chicken wrap from Chick-Fil-A but it was with fat free honey mustard so it wasn't bad. Anyway, I lost 3.5 pounds this week. Hopefully in 2 weeks I can break the 200 pound barrier. The goal for next week is to hit 203.5-204.0

You're doing great!! :D
Good job adjusting your routine to the mornings so you can keep working out!!

Lost 3 pounds this week. Now down to 204.5 So far, I've lost 17 pounds in my first 4 weeks. I'm going to try and pick up a bike this week so I can add some new exercise to my routine. Walking gets boring quickly :( I'm still sticking with the same diet although the woman and I had Cracker Barrel for breakfast the other day. That was definitely not conducive to the whole diet thing. I REALLY want to hit 200 even next week, so I am going to really push myself and see what I can do. If I can't, oh well. But it would be nice :)

Only down to 203.0 this week. So a 1.5 pound loss. I am sure Pizza Hut and Cracker Barrell didn't help this week but oh well. That was only 2 meals anyway. This week I WILL get to 200. I have a feeling the weightloss will begin to taper off though. I guess that just means I need to step up the exercise a little more. I've been trying to make the time to get a bike to ride, but I have been real busy lately. And now with school starting up this Wednesday, I will have even less time on my hands. Either way, I will make time.

Plus I walk alot of uphills and with the heat that helps to I walk
at night do to I turn into redlobster if the sun hits me lol!
Anyway good luck to ya and your plan souinds gr8!!!Tammy

Yeah, I am hoping this all goes smoothly. I have a lot more energy and stuff now than I did before. I guess that kind of goes with idea that I am carrying around 18 less pounds than I was before. But yeah, I REALLY want to hit the 180 pound mark so I can be thin once again. I haven't worn size 32 pants in almost 6 years. The 36's I have now are pretty loose, but I can't quite get into 34's comfortably.

YAY!!!!!! Congrats to you!!!!!! I am so looking up to you right NOW!!!! Really, You have got me motivated. I am also walking everyday and Starting to eat healthier agian. I am SUPER Happy for you.

Have a AWESOME Day and Keep it up. Don't forget your WATER;)

Well, I didn't hit 200, but I did hit 201. Close enough :) Nah, not really. Even if I continue to lose 2 pounds per week, that is good enough for me. Plus, its not as drastic so its not as much of a shock to the body. I still haven't gotten a bike. The money for the bike ended up being the money for some new living room furniture at Rooms to Go. Plus some new goodies for my car.

Sad to say, I haven't made much progress the past couple weeks. I have been so busy with school and everything that I've sort of put the whole diet on the back burner. Rushing around and eating late dinners is not helping my cause. My night classes go from 6-10pm and trying to get dinner before 6 is next to impossible. I may try and eat around 4-4:30 and eat a meal replacement bar or something during my break at school. I guess I was successful anyway though as I did make the scale read 199.5. Honestly though, I don't see myself losing 19 pounds in 5 weeks as my current goal is setup. I am thinking I should change my goal to 185 so I won't be as disappointed :) Then after that, set my sights on 180 or as low as I can go.

I wasn't really feeling all that great this week. I really didn't each much so I lost a lot of weight. 6 pounds to be exact. So I am at 193 now. I know its a lot of weight to report, but I have a feeling since it wasn't lost the right way, that next week I may actually GAIN weight. I guess I could try and take advantage of it though. I actually went out and bought myself some new clothes the other day. The pants that I was wearing were just too big. So I hit up the mall and went shopping like a chick.
