It doesn't matter that you are in the women's area. Men post here all the time :) We don't bite.

What it sounds like you are aiming for is fat loss. Is that correct? You want to look lean and toned, but not bulk up and look like a bodybuilder, right?

If so... and this is general advice since we do not know your height, weight, age, daily activity, daily menu, or anything else... you need to work with a program that delivers fat loss.

That means having a caloric deficit and also working out regularly with weights and cardio. You can basically follow the advice given on this forum for women. After all men and women are almost similar when it comes to fat loss. I post 5 tips to fat loss a lot too. Here they are for your reference...

1) Eat 5-6 small meals throughout the day. Each meal should be 2-3 hours apart. Each meal should contain one protein and one carb. The first meal should be eaten within an hour after waking.

2) Drink lots of water :)

3) Rest properly. This means taking at least 24-48 hours between strength training the same muscles, and it also means getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep per night. Lastly, it means taking 1-2 days off from exercising per week.

4) Cardio. This should be done at different intensity levels and different session lengths. Consider doing a low intensity/long session, a high intensity/short session and a few medium intensity/medium length sessions.

5) Strength Training. Strength train each muscle 1-3 times per week. You should lift a proper weight and perform the proper amount of sets/reps for your strength training method.

All of the above things combined will result in fat loss.

You can safely lift weights when you have someone around to spot you (teammates or friends). Just don't get into lifting HUGE amounts of weights quite yet :)

A small meal is one protein and one carb. I don't measure things out to the exact degree, but an example would be egg whites and oatmeal. Or a turkey sandwhich or cottage cheese and berries.

Check with your parents and see what they recommend. Ask them if they can take you to the gym and speak with a trainer. Lots of people are willing to help out :)

Yes - check with parents

Sparks,

Trainer Lynn is totally right when she said to speak with your parents first. At 16, you can still cause damage to your bones if you hit the weights too hard. Bodyweight exercises, gymnastics, and some weight training is cool - just be careful.
I like kettlebells, but you always have the danger of bonking them on your head!

Don't let Trainer Lynn fool you. I've had women bite on multiple occasions.

of course, I'm into that sort of thing.... :)
