i dont get it!? =]?
(im 5"6-7, and 16 years old). back in february i changed my diet and excersize because i was overweight at 158 lb, and a few times i have hit a platau where i stopped loosing consistant weight. One about a month ago i hit it around 148 lb, and i remember it was my birthday so i loaded down chinese food and icecream cake, yet two days later i weighed 3 pounds less.

Then last week i hit a nother platau at around 144, and two days ago i had a big milkshake and yesterday a doughnut (this is out of the norm, i snack on sugar free jello, and fruit), and i weighed myself about ten minutes ago, lol yes after i ate lunch, and i was 139.5 lb .

i dont get it! is there something that you need in fats-sugar to get over platau? cause it seems when my weight loss slows down and i eat junk 1 time i loose weight =\? lol

*sunday i started taking 100% green tea powder caps that may have helped ?*

I don't think so. "A" doughnut is what a 200-300 calories? Depending on the size and ingredients of the milkshake, it probably wasn't as bad as you think either. I don't think those 2 things would spur a 6lb weight loss. Possibly you felt guilty after and didn't eat to make up for it?

I had the exact same phenomenon happen to me in high school... I was eating like an anorexic and had a piece of cheesecake... lost two pounds. If you've completely taken all the fat out of your diet, or have put yourself on a really restrictive diet (ie., considerably low caloric intake, over excercising, both, etc)., sometimes those extra cals get you over the hump because your body feels in a position to surrender some of the weight. Not that milkshakes and chinese food and birthday cake are magic answers (God knows, I wish they were!!!) but eliminating or not having enough fat/calories isn't a magic answer either.

if you read around the forum a bit -you'll find the suggestion for overcoming a plateau is basically to eat at maintenance then cut back from there..

While I strongly doubt that it was the fat/sugar thata knocked oyu off your supposed plateau -it was probably the additional calories that you consumed that did it..
